Young Adult Figure Skating

When you go back to the ice at the age of 26 after skating for a few years as a preteen and crying every time you watch the Olympics because you’ve always regretted quitting.

When now instead of spending all your money (what money?) on clothes and booze, you are now saving pennies to afford freestyle ice time and lessons and a club membership, but you still can’t afford groceries.

When you’re the awe-inspiring Queen of the Public Skate and the Fool at the Freestyle Session.

When you force yourself up at 5:15 am to get to the rink so you can skate before going to your many part-time “millennial liberal arts college grad with no health insurance” jobs that are SUPPOSED to be supporting your theater career and spend most of the session trying not to be run over by the Intermediate and Novice girls who are having their private lessons before school.

When you’re spending even more time on Youtube watching skating tips and other adult skaters’ channels.

When all you want is to be able to land your axel, something you never quite accomplished as a kid but you’re still working on back 3′s and can’t even do a proper scratch spin. But you CAN do a beautiful waltz jump.

When you cry watching Ashley Wagner blow it at Nationals, because she is your age and your skating spirit animal and when she is on she is an exquisite performer who ACTS on the ice, and as an actor yourself you relate.

When you’re researching part-time gigs that will allow you to be around skating more.

When you’re completely, totally obsessed with the most expensive hobby in the world.

Thought I'd whip up this wicked cool rollerblade graphic I've spent a number of days designing. I can't recall the last time I've attempted three-point perspective, but I remember struggling with it. A lot.

I found at least 2 other great ways to look at the picture so I made a couple o' copies each orientated differently.
