Where other systems have like strings as burnable resources, Bubblegum Hyperdrive will have Insights and Discoveries.
You can collect Insights on other characters, key objects, creatures, locations, and even a “Crisis”.
Crises are a countdown with stages of a situation getting worse until it’s unsalvageable, and something is truly lost.
You collect Insights through play. You can spend them to increase roles or use certain powers. But you can also spend them on a Discovery, whether alone or with your group. You can then sell discoveries for money (one of the few ways to get it), or you use one or more Discovery to solve a Crisis, and roleplay that out, and gain XP.
