Maryn:

3. What’s one skill your character really wishes they had?

She would love to be able to do magic like Kharis but perhaps it’s better that she can’t

12. Your character has the opportunity to have one wish granted. Would the wish only benefit them, someone else (one person or multiple), or everyone? And what would that wish be?

Maryn, at the beginning of her character arc, would for sure wish that her dad had never left in the first place and, in turn, she could have approached sailing from a less...illegal angle. It could have been a more wholesome passion that they shared with each other and not a child’s attempt to connect with a lost parental figure.

Maryn at the end of her arc, she probably wouldn’t know what to wish for! She wouldn’t want to change where she is, because it led her to Kharis and she had a bunch of great adventures. Maybe she’d wish that Kharis wouldn’t have such cold hands lmao

79. Which one do they prefer; knowing when they die or how they die?

Oh man this is a hard question! Knowing the answer to either kind of ruins the thrill of adventure for her! She would choose neither, preferring just to live life as it’s meant to be

Sage’s entire life is one embarrassing accident after the next, and that’s just the way the cookie crumbles

23. Does your character know any languages apart from their native language? What one would they like to learn?

Ayako, Germaine, and Pidge all know a bit of Taylvish thanks to Dad Proctor.

Pidge’s native language is not common tongue like Aya and Ger, so he actually knows roughly three

The Hawthornes know the language of the court (high Vridish) and common tongue. They also know some songs in Rho (from their mom) and Saul knows Taylvish for diplomatic reasons. They’re royalty, being multi-lingual is kind of expected

Maryn only knows common but would like to learn some Taylvish just so she can talk to Kharis in it

34. Has anyone ever given your character a really important gift? What was it? Do they take care of that gift today or have they since lost or broken it?

Germaine gave Saul a little metal pin that he made of a tiny sun that Saul wears into battle

Pidge has a scarf from his birth parents

And Maryn’s dad gave her emotional trauma
