Calum Imagine: The Breakfast Club

     You stepped outside to get some air. You were practicing a new song on the piano and couldn't get the notes straight. To lower your stress you pull out a cigaret and light it. The door behind you closes, you look to see Calum by your side. You and Calum have been good friends for a while, but you wanted a change. You hung out together all the time and you both obviously liked each other but neither of you would admit it. “What are you doing out here?” Calum says. “Just taking a break.” You say putting out your cigaret. “Aya, I have something for you.” Calum says running his hand on the back of his neck and looking at the ground. “Follow me.” Calum opens the door for you and you walk back inside. You sit on the couch and Calum grabs a wrapped present. “Ok before I give this to you, let me explain. I was at the store and I saw this and thought of you.” Calum hands you the sloppily wrapped gift. You slowly unwrap the gift to see your favorite movie. “The Breakfast Club! This is my favorite.” You stand up giving Calum friendly hug. “It’s the new blue ray special edition.” “I love it!” You say hugging Calum once again. “Open it there is something else inside.” Calum nervously points at the DVD. You open the DVD confused on what it could be inside. Inside the DVD case is a piece of paper. “Read what’s on that paper and come to my place once you’ve read it. Calum leaves you with the piece of paper, you unfold it to find a letter in Calum’s messy hand writing.

Dear Aya,

        We have been good friends for a couple months now, but ever since the first day we met I couldn't shake off this feeling. I tired to figure out what this weird feeling I had when I was around you. I've come to the realization that I want to be more than friends with you. I know I'm taking a big risk telling you this because you possible have no feelings for me. But if I didn't take this risk I would have to live with being in love with you forever. If you don't have feelings for me I will eventually understand, but please consider it.

     You drop the paper and grab your keys to go meet Calum and tell him how you are in love with him too. You close your front door behind you and turn around to see what you've were looking for. Calum had never left and was leaning against his car. "Yes!" You yell to Calum from the door. Calum's face looked shcoked, "What?" he asked. You run up to him and kiss him. The kiss only lasts a few seconds and you say, "Yes, I have feelings for you too." you whisper, Calum smiles and picks you up in a large hug. "I knew it." you hear him whisper in your hair.

“Whatever,” she said, blowing one last cloud of white smoke before throwing her cigarette butt to the ground and stepping on it. “I don’t really care what they think, to be honest. I love playing in this bar. Whether it is gratifying or not according to them doesn’t really matter, you know? It’s an open stage, I get to play with different people every night and, I mean… I get paid for it.” She walked back inside the pub through the staff door, dismissing with a hand gesture what her friend had come to tell her. “You know, my parents never really understood my passion. It makes me happy. That’s what’s important.”

Aya had been trying for years now to make herself a place in the music industry. She was a brilliant pianist and she knew she was going to make it. Some day. Her parents had been pressuring her to “get a real job” since forever, but she refused to give up on her dream. She kept sending CDs to labels, turning up for auditions, and trying to get noticed, but mostly she just… Played in a bar.

She walked on stage and sat behind the piano, waiting for the next brave singer wannabe to come to the stage. It was a young boy with dark hair, tanned skin and gigantic brown eyes. He had nice plump lips and smiled an awful lot. He was cute. She’d met him the night before, as she usually did with the people who came to sing at the pub. She’d meet them before to discuss the songs they wanted to play and have some time to work on it. This guy, Calum was his name, mostly wanted to play original songs, which was rare. No one ever dared submitting their own work, submitting it to her, but especially submitting it to the public. This little guy was particularly brave. And his songs were really good. He walked on stage, visibly terrified, shot her a glance to let her know he was ready, counted to two and they started. They played three songs. The only three songs they’d had time to work on. But by the time they’d finished, the entire room was standing up at the foot of the stage and applauding enthusiastically. Both of them knew that was their chance. Their chance to finally get noticed. Calum thanked his audience, and quickly added something along the lines of “don’t go anywhere, we’ll be right back” before walking up to Aya.

  “We need to do some more songs…” he whispered, concern making his voice shake.

“Yeah, we do.”

“I have some more with me, but… We don’t have time…” She could see the panic taking over him.

“Calm down. Can you do one by yourself, while I check them out?”

“But I’m going to mess up…”

“No you’re not. You’ve been awesome, they love you already. Now get back there, play your favorite song and when you’re done, we can do some more together.”

  He nodded frantically, trying to gather up his courage before walking back in front of the packed room. Aya looked at him and the thought that he had a great butt crossed her mind, but mostly she was just blown away by his courage. That’s what she lacked. The balls to just get up there by herself and do her thing. They played for the rest of the evening. When Calum had no more original songs to share, they just turned to classic pop-punk. When they finally got a minute to themselves, they rushed to the bar to grab a beer each and talk a bit. They hadn’t taken the time to get to know each other, but now that they realized how much they kicked ass together, it seemed pretty obvious to them that… They had to! That’s when they discovered a common passion for John Hughes movies, and particularly The Breakfast Club. In less than four seconds, they were back on stage, playing their own version of Don’t You Forget About Me, by Simple Minds, and it was the best night ever.

The next morning, they met again. But this time to make the most of their obvious chemistry. They recorded a bunch of songs together, and discussed who to send them to. Their talents completed each other and, this time, they knew they were getting somewhere. Why not to the top of the charts.

We were just talking and looking out the window when 3 guys ran past the window and one of them smiled and waved at us as he ran past, we waved back and then laughed at each other when suddenly one of them ran backwards just to waved and smile at us. We waved back and then ended up pissing ourselves laughing, then another cute guy came into hungry jacks, he sat a few tables down and just kept smiling at me :). Amazing time! 3.
