Aylesham Cadet of the Year receives award
Congratulations to Corporal Kerrie Bryan, Aylesham Cadet of the Year 2012, who has been presented with her CVQO-led BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Teamwork, Personal Skills and Citizenship at an annual awards evening for Aylesham Detachment held at Aylesham Youth and Leisure Centre.
Kerrie said: “It is great to be able to have all the work I’ve done in the past two years formally recognised. I am really looking forward to being able to move on to studying the Level 2 Diploma in Public Services through the Army Cadets. In the meantime I am keen to take on another challenge and am in the process of applying for the Canadian Cadet Exchange.”
The Aylesham cadets were funded to take Level 1 BTEC through CVQO by an Early Intervention Grant via the Voluntary Organisations Field Officer for Dover and White Cliffs area and Aylesham Parish Council. Representatives Sue Andrews and Councillor Bob Thomson presented certificates to Cpl Bryan and Lance Corporal Tom Beddoe.
Kent County Councillor Mike Hill OBE, Cllr Jennifer Hollingsbee (Chair of Shepway District Council) and Deputy Chair Cllr Rory Love, joined parents and local veterans who also attended the evening to support the cadets’ achievements.
Detachment Commander Lieutenant Tara Young said: “We are very appreciative of the generous support from the local community to fund the cadets, recognising their achievements in key skills gained through the cadet forces.”
