miss sugar, i just want to thank you for all the metas you've written. your blogs and meta about snk have really helped me a lot to understand the story further. i know the fandom has been splitted in half on their opinions on the final chapters, and everyone has the right to feel disappointment or feel satisfied by the finale, after all, we've all been emotionally invested to the story. but really, thank you for being one of the unbiased and positive bloggers here 😊💛 as for me, i may have been one of the few ones who has really enjoyed the chapter thoroughly and sure that the story still has flaws i'm not ignoring it. i want to appreciate the beauty of this manga has been and appreciate isayama's hardwork for 11 years+ and i thank this series because it brought me to all amazing people like you ^^ and i'm happy for the journey ^^ thank you miss sugar!

I liked it as well and thought it was a solid ending to the story. The story overall is definately not perfect, but I still think it is thematically strong and original and imo it is impressive this is Isayama’s first long series!

I am also genuinely happy to receive messages like these, both from people who liked the finale and who did not, but still took the time to tell me they appreciated my posts! I think just this makes the whole investment in the series worthy for me :’’’)

Idk man. I’m really depressed after reading how everything’s gone down. And it’s even more fucked that it’s become a “so close yet so far away” thing. Like, dude, it’s literally canon that they’re in love!!! The tragedy is that they’re probably not going to emerge from this together, happy and unscathed. 

In fact... Mikasa’s probably gonna be the one to off Eren. All signs + her character arc points to it and I caaaaaaan’t nononono I canNOT. The fuckery of it all -- she spent her whole life protecting this guy and now she’ll probably be the one to kill him to round out her character development. Doing so would be the ultimate act of finally gaining full independence from him and gaining full agency over her life. I hope to jebus I’m wrong but... it kinda looks like that’s how things are shaping up. I’m lit’rally tearing up as I write this. 

The only way I could ever possibly accept Eren’s death and not curse Isayama’s name is if Mikasa somehow ends up pregnant with his baby before the close of the series. And since the manga’s coming to a close soon, maybe I’ll be spurred to write something around that when that time comes, so we can all mourn together. 

But for now... idk if I’m in the state to write anything. We’ve been with these characters for so long and have imagined them in so many scenarios -- wrote about them and drawn them, and have analyzed them to death. It’s hard not to feel so attached, especially now that our goodbyes with them may be more bitter than sweet. I’m grieving hardcore already. I reeeeeeaaally hope I’m wrong though.

hello again! i have read your discussion of the possible theories of the see you later panel. if memory serves, i think the jp translation of it would be 行ってらっしゃい itterasshai, which is basically 'take care and have a safe trip' with the implication that the person would be coming back later but you know, what if it also means have a safe trip to heaven agdjsksks idk x’D also, that panel has been brought up again in ch 130 in eren's future memories shard. and she's clearly crying while smiling;-;

Yeah, true, it could very well be a sweet “see you later” to soften the blow of the fact that they’ll never actually see each other again. That is a very particular phrase though, because of expectation of that person returning. Isayama could have easily used さようなら or じゃ or じゃまた, none of which have that strong of a “return” connotation which makes my heart ache even more bc she’s saying come back to me essentially skdfskgdfgs

I just read through 130 and didn’t see that. I did see a scarf pic that could’ve been a memory shard chapter 50 where she was smiling and crying. 

Well, we can rationalize it all we want but we should probably all just expect the worse for our collective sanities’ sake lol.
