Chao Phraya River Cruise . We wrapped up our #AyutthayaTour aboard the Grand Pearl with a sumptuous lunch buffet. We surely got our money's worth with the sites we visited, very good tour guide, comforable bus ride to Ayutthaya, lunch cruise to Bangkok, then pick-up and drop-off back to our hotel. This tour would be very challenging to DIY so I'm glad we agreed on joining a group tour. Thanks, Mama @goddessified, for recommending this. The Wat Maha That (The Monastery of the Great Relic) . Located in the center of old Ayutthaya, the structure has been registered as a national historic site in 1935 and is part of the Ayutthaya World Heritage Historical Park. Wat Maha That follows the Khmer concept of temple construction. Its design, architecture and decoration were modeled according to a series of magical and religious beliefs. (Source: http://www.ayutthaya-history.com) . This Buddha head is the most photographed in the area. Nobody knows how the Buddha head became entwined in the roots of the tree. This is a sacred site. The statue can not be touched.
