When Ayumu woke up he almost forgot where he was. All he remembered was aliens attacking the planet and pretty blue eyes looking at him in glee.
‘Oh right,’ he thought, ‘I fell asleep watching TV with Hozumi.’ The aliens, he recalled, were from a movie that Ayumu was very much against watching. Hozumi won out because he cheats at rock, paper, scissors and proceeded to giggle every time Ayumu screamed at the jumpscares. He looked down at Hozumi’s sleeping figure, arms around Ayumu’s waist and his head nestled between his neck and shoulder because he would cuddle him after getting scared as way of apology.
‘He’s absolutely pure evil.’ He rubbed his cheek against Hozumi’s hair. ‘Evil with great taste in shampoo.’
Sometime during the movie, they had both hunkered down on Ayumu’s bed. He sighed internally, ‘Just my luck, the first time I bring a lover into bed with me, we both fall asleep.’
He felt his heart speed up a little at the word ‘lover’. ‘We’re lovers,’ he thinks with a goofy grin. He’s been grinning like that for two weeks since they’ve made it official and the feeling still hasn’t worn off.
He hears Hozumi groan in his sleep and then gets a face full of hair accompanied by a, “Stop smiling like that, you’ll scare the children.”
Ayumu splutters, blowing the hair out of his mouth, the smile never leaving his face, “You don’t know that I’m smiling.”
“Yes I do, your heartbeat sped up. You should get that checked out.”
He knew Hozumi was teasing because his shoulders were shaking a little the way they always do when he’s trying to keep himself from laughing.
He pulls his arm, which had been lodged between Hozumi and the bed, free and crosses them, “You should get your brain checked out.”
Hozumi pulls himself up so his face was closer to him and smirks, “Ooh, good one.”
Ayumu does the mature thing and sticks his tongue out. He still turns over to face him and just stares.
“What are you doing?” Hozumi whispers.
“Looking at my boyfriend,” he says, unperturbed. He laughs when Hozumi pushes at his shoulder in embarrassment and then hisses a little in pain. His clavicle had healed completely but sometimes it gets a little sore when he lies in one position for too long.
Hozumi pulls away, his face struck with terror. “I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry!”
Ayumu pulls him back, “Shh, its fine. I’m fine, don’t need to cry over my corpse, you haven’t gotten rid of me yet.”
Calmed only a little, Hozumi pouts and clicks his tongue. “Don’t say things like that, you’ll bring bad omens.”
With cautious fingers, he grazes the pale scar underneath the neckline of his shirt. Ayumu shivers from a multitude of reasons, none he really wants to mull over for too long unless he wants to embarrass himself. It’s actually a strange sensation, the scar over his clavicle is still numb but it tingles when touched, the way your arms do when you lay on them for too long.
“It still hurts?” Hozumi asks, not taking his eyes off of the patch of skin. Owner of said patch swallows hard then tries to make a joke, “Nope! Just slept on it wrong, that’s all. Doctor said I healed so fast he wants me tested to see if I’m actually human! I always knew I was special.”
Hozumi says nothing and slowly rolls them over until Ayumu was flat on his back, almost straddling him. Ayumu stared up at him wide eyed, felt his face grow steadily hot, creeping from his neck all the way up to his hairline. “Ho-hozumi?”
Hozumi continued to stare down and carefully lifted a hand and laid it against the side of Ayumu’s neck, his thumb slowly brushed the pulse point, back and forth. “You’re kind of cute, ya know?” His lips twitched up at the corners.
Breathing in long drags to keep his voice steady, Ayumu swallowed again. “Only kind of?”
All at once, Hozumi collapsed on top of him, his whole body covering Ayumu’s. “No,” he said. It sounded almost like defeat, “You’re beautiful.”
They laid there in silence, only the sound of their breathing filled the room. Ayumu knew he could make a joke but it didn’t really feel right. Hozumi sounded vulnerable and Ayumu wasn’t a jerk. He froze again when Hozumi began to move.
He pulled Ayumu’s shirt down, giving himself enough room to leave a trail of kisses starting from his shoulder down to that little scar over his collarbone. He pulled away and left his hand over it.
“It should never have happened,” he mumbled. Ayumu smiled, putting a hand on the back of Hozumi’s head. He nudged until Hozumi lifted up enough for Ayumu to kiss his boyfriend softly, shutting down anymore negative thoughts.
“Told you already, it wasn’t,” he said when he pulled away, just enough so their foreheads touched. “I’d do it again because you guys are my teammates. With more practice, of course, cause that really wasn’t any fun. You watch, by the time I’m done training, I’ll become the new Trickster of Honan. And you’ll become the Trickster of Honans’ boyfriend.”
Hozumi snorted, “Yeah right, in your dreams.” He laid his head back down next to Ayumu’s, this time ready for sleep to overtake them.
“Good night, Hozumi,” Ayumu said.
Hozumi kissed his cheek and hummed, “Good night. …Trickster of Honans’ boyfriend.”
here’s a little something for the ayuzumi tag which is terribly lacking. thanks @fililikilili for the prompt ideas, i do intend to write some more
this happens af accident and before koga’s return
Ayumu tried very hard to enjoy his new book of Shogi strategies that his mom bought for him but it was impossible. For one, he has been stuck in bed for almost a week with barely any exercise so he had energy to spare. For another, Kohinata-san was sitting on the floor next to him working on his homework in complete silence.
Usually, Ayumu would welcome the quiet while reading but after being mostly out the loop with school outside of stride club, he was ready for all the juicy classroom gossip.
He looked over at Kohinata-san who seemed engrossed in his work before going back to his book, determined to at least get through the first chapter. Then he heard Kohinata-san sigh. For the fifth time in a row.
“UGH! That’s it! I can’t take it!” he yelled, throwing his book towards the foot of his bed. The sound made Kohinata-san jump and look up at him wildy, “What’s wrong Ayumu-san!? Are you hurt?”
“No, I’m fine, but it’s obvious you’re not,” Ayumu said, crossing his arms. Well, as best as he could with only one good arm.
“You’ve been in a horrible mood since you got here. Now, I’ve been a good host and let you do your homework in silence but there’s something on your mind that’s bothering you and I want to know what,” Ayumu continued. He glared at Kohinata-san daring him to protest.
“HA! Don’t insult my intelligence. You cannot fool me, Kohinata-san! Come and sit, tell the great Ayumu all about it.”
Kohinata’s expression twitched a little but the same sad look returned. With a sixth sigh, he carefully sat himself on the edge of Ayumu’s bed, his back against the bed frame.
“I guess a part of me is worried about the match. I’m still not sure I trust Koga-san and that can be bad if he decides to show up, if he shows up at all,” he admits, playing with the hem of Ayumu’s blanket.
Ayumu makes a ‘hmm’ sound, “Yes. That is always a possibility. If you don’t connect your feelings, you could end up losing your rhythm during the match and make us lose EOS all together. Or you could get someone hurt if you’re not in synch with your teammates. That is a lot of pressure to be under.”
With every word Ayumu said, Kohinata’s expression darkened into panic. He grabbed Ayumu’s free hand with both of his and shook it, “Ayumu-san! I thought you were supposed to be wise! This is not making me feel better!”
Ayumu laughed, “Don’t worry, Kohinata-san. I don’t believe any of that is going to happen. Everything will work out fine.”
Kohinata stopped and blinked at him in surprise. “H-how can you be so sure?”
Ayumu shrugged with one shoulder, “Because you’re Kohinata-san. And I believe if anyone could make the impossible work, it would be you.”
Stunned, Kohinata let one of his hands fall away from Ayumu’s, sinked back into the bed. Instead he used it to cover his reddened face.
“You-you’re horrible, Ayumu-san.”
Ayumu gaped, “What?! That was a cool line! Given to you by your wise and wonderful senpai, how could you be so ungrateful?”
“What!? First of all, I’m older than YOU by two months don’t even start and second that was a lame line given only by lame guys who try to pick up girls by wearing sunglasses a night!”
They squabbled for the rest of the night, book and homework laid by the way side, completely forgotten. And if they’re hands were still interlocked well, that was forgotten too.
