#people refuse to remember that people aren’t just complaining about it being a little hot outside #it’s about the infrastructure that’s in place and was built for expected climate conditions that now do not align with the rapidly changes #in climate that are only accelerating #it’s not necessarily about being out in the sun and feeling hot. many places have that. it’s not being able to go or be somewhere else #where you won’t be subjected to the heat that makes it such a bad situation #same thing with snowstorms in Texas. what would be nothing to a northerner is catastrophic down there because the infrastructure isn’t built #for that #people love to be smug and proud about being able to ‘handle’ things that others apparently can’t #without realizing that if they were there they’d probably be feeling the exact same way #idk I know I’m preaching to the choir here but it’s really a lack of empathy

I get up. I walk into the bathroom. I glance in the mirror. My hair is posed in a brand new, never-before-seen array that defies the laws of physics.

#I wash my hair at night. it dries before the time I go to bed #it dries in the style that more or less I keep it in and is looking great before I go to bed #I wake up and suddenly my hair has never considered being its full length #and instead the way my hair bumps up/off my head is incomprehensible #I have to straighten my hair each morning not to make it straight but to get it to lay properly #(I use a straightening brush not a flat iron which helps but if I told my teen self I straightened my hair each day she’d laugh #because when my hair was long it was almost pin straight. now look at me)
