she  either  intended  to  scare  him  ,      or  thought  he  was  somehow  superhumanly  perceptive  enough  to  know  she  was  there  before  she  ever  actually  appeared  there  .      the  answer  ?      a  big  ,      fat  ,      whopping    '  NO  '    so  powerful  it  makes  him  jump  noticeable  .      he  almost  stabs  himself  the  pencil  he'd  been  holding  .      that  goes  on  the  table  before  he  actually  does  turn  himself  into  a  pincushion  .      how  she  can  just  manage  to  appear  where  he  is  ,      literally  ,      isn't  something  he  can  figure  out  by  any  scientific  means  .      he's  not  teaching  about  teleportation  today  .      or  any  day  .

what's something you want people to know about you?

i'm half pakistani (on my dad's side) and half bangladeshi (on my mom's side) and muslim, and these are all really important parts of my identity !! :) i was born and raised in nyc, so i try to make up for the cultural distance that comes with that by really making an effort to learn both country's histories (just the subcontinent in general). my parents were both super fluent in english (my mom came here when she was 12, and my dad was in sales) so they didn't teach me their native languages -- and i got really stubborn when i was like 14? and learned both on my own! i used to watch dramas and pause and answer back in the language (either bengali or urdu) to teach myself because my parents just didn't have the habit of talking to my in their native tongues lmao. i also know 7 languages !!!!! i just love to learn !!!!!

anyway !! all that to say is i'm a big wealth of knowledge when it comes to south asia in general, and also, outside of that, ESPECIALLY orientalism and post-colonial studies. you can ask my friends, but i am constantly yapping about the effects of imperialism even when no one's asked me kjnkjnkn. i just love to share knowledge, and so many people are so misunderstood when it comes to all things desi and islam and i looooove to inform and set that thinking on the right path. please ask me questions if you're ever curious! deep, philosophical questions and conversations are always how i connect best with people. it's really hard for me to talk about fandoms and video games and stuff cuz i don't really get involved in that. but cultural analysis ?? themes ?? meaning of LIFE ?? i'll talk with you on the phone for houuuuuurs.

❝ you don't exactly have a choice, do you? ❞ she cooed, prettily, her thin claws going through the dark hair on top of the other's hair in a mocking gesture. she used to do so with diaval, when he was alive and by her side and faithful and above all, willing. her poor, poor servant who fell ill on the hands of those wretched hunters who rejoiced in making her, for the first time in almost a millenia, weep. she barely felt the tears, didn't know what they were at first, only to then cling into the new presence with sharp teeth and hunger. raven, hateful as she was, was powerful; reason enough why maleficent despised her at first, always attempting to take her in like a good and well trained bird. well, it worked this time. reasons unkown, but seeing her squirm and detest each second spent on the forbidden mountain was enough to make maleficent beam.

beautiful and too peaceful for her tastes, and too noisy. always getting within her deals and curses, wondering why she was after the infant - as if she didn't have reason ! questions here and there, flying away at times to save someone; why, and for what? things maleficent couldn't fanthom, too poingnant still to ignore. their bond forbid her from lashing, and she felt too much from it. the brief touch of raven's... emotions, stirring awake something within that made her want to vomit, and hide, and burn the whole world down. she was sad, and emphathic, and kind to the point of submission which to maleficent was a crime against creation. 'her energy is similar to mine, and too different. how come she cultivated her core to such a creature?' creature, serene, ethereal. maleficent wanted to eat her whole.

❝ haven't i been a good host? are you not satisfied, with me? ❞ despite it all, her voice, this time, wasn't a jest. she sounded like a child, curious, her horns addorned by the flowers raven had picked in the corners of the moors. and her hands went from the head to the shoulders. they were the same height, which made the interaction easier. ❝ you can critize my methods as you wish, but you'll obey me as long as you're my companion. don't tell me you're more fond of the humans than of me. ❞ maleficent knew she was, knew everything about those purple and blue hues and her meditation, the reason she prayed. knew of her father and wondered how it felt to even have one. her nature too divergent, and so perfectly matched.

@azarathian , raven : bonnie gets an experimental kiss, soft and unsure on the lips, for valentine's day. raven immediately retreats in embarassement.

inside the winery, they choose to settle in the last two open seats at the end curve of the bar instead of the single remaining booth at the back corner, just out of center stage. it seemed more appropriate — that is to say, more business-casual friend-adjacent by association of the finicky death-and-souls business — to stay at elbow distance in the light, ambient honey-gold that’s doused over raven’s inky hair. the booths are modular sofas, reminiscent of loveseats, rustic brown leather, lit with red dancing flames from skinny taper candles. better saved for the couples on their valentine’s dates. which is symbolic of…nothing. for bonnie. her parents were never married, and absent at that, and grams dedicated her life to raising bonnie as a proud widow. she never grieved openly, neither for her husband nor her daughter, who was not dead but gone all the same. bonnie’s most memorable valentine’s day was when grams taught her to make a love potion and lectured her on ethics. and profits, which were not mutually exclusive. people always got what they were looking for when they ambled into her shop — whether it was good for them or not.

somewhere in the room, there’s a couple breaking up. bonnie can feel the rift, like paper ripping. when the bartender tops off her glass, the wine is thick crimson. she drinks it rather than seek out the couple, just to ease her own ache. she’s selfish that way, sometimes. doesn't want to harbor heartbreak that’s not hers.

raven touches the inside of bonnie’s wrist, over her pulse, which jumps. the kiss is fleeting, slightly off the mark at the corner of her mouth rather than flat on it. when she glances up, raven’s cheeks are flushed. could be from the wine. but bonnie’s not naive.

the energy surrounding her is almost overwhelming. so much so, that he's barely able to see anything else. if it overwhelms him, he can't imagine what it's like to be her. or, perhaps, she's like him — she's used to it. the level of his grief, his burden, the weight of his genjustu in his mind... his head always felt on the verge of exploding. but maybe she's feeling it. that was what she was able to do, right? “ what blood? ” he asks, voice cool, memories flashing through his mind. blood pouring from his eyes, sight deteriorating. is she friend or foe? “ how do you know if this is real? ” a pause as he pulls his robes closer to his body, eyes closing for a moment. “ i cannot do it for you. you must do it for yourself. ”

𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄'𝐒 𝐀 𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌 ,        the Devil having taken to find themselves mildly malding over the quips of the smaller woman .   For the meantime ,   it appears as if they've directed their ire towards Raven has been redirected towards the warbling house finch attempting to charm a rather indifferent suitor .   Arms are tightly folded over his chest as he takes in the display ,   watching as it falls off the branch it was dancing on only to swoop up once more  &  attempt the courting ritual once again .   A low scoff draws past lips ,   form partially turning away from the window  &  unfolding arms to push back a few lingering strands of silver hair from face in their self-made indignation .   He doesn't know where she's disappeared to ,   aside from the initial shift of shadows as form seemingly melted away before very eyes after the pointed comment ,  though the eventual scent of black tea that garners their attention  (  a scent that would be recognized anywhere ,   already soothing the incensed temper present only moments prior  ) . 

She's infuriating ,   often rebuffing conversations on her true nature ,   treating it as if it were some UNCONTROLLABLE ,   INSATIABLE BEAST .   To deny nature would only prove to be a means to become enslaved to it later down the road .   She was not human ,   this was already known ,   but that there was no attempt to garner control  &  understand ──

Somehow ,   careful words find themselves constantly digging under skin  &  further provoking gale of the oncoming maelstrom that carefully gathers on the horizon .   One that she stands before with unwavering conviction ,   one that she approaches with unrelenting intent .   It's recognizable ,   her enshrouding presence ,   the faint scent of jasmine that lingers on skin  &  clothes .   The Devil doesn't move from their half-turned position at the window as the distance between them thins ,   the cup held within her hands snaring his attention ,   before opalescent gaze drifts away from her  &  back towards the courting birds .   

                    ❛    . . .   is this your idea of a peace offering ?    ❜        𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐫 ,   𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞        as he opts to retain hands from the cup .   The scent that drifts from the liquid is enticing ,   yet they persevere  (  for now  ) .   Another stumble ,   but this time he does not fall alone .   Joined by another ,   before the finches take off towards the sky  &  out of sight even for the Devil .   Jaw clenches ,   now no longer having an excuse to avoid looking at her  (  not that it had been a good excuse anyways  ) .   Begrudgingly glancing aside towards @azarathian without turning their head .   Brows marrying upon forehead as familiar creases line expression ,   the hills  &  valleys of displeasure as present as always .   At least until Raven quietly nudges the teacup forth towards him .   Silence trickles between them ,   forming a yawning lake yearning to be disturbed .   Eventually ,   Vergil relents with a grunt ,   arms unfolding to take the cup within larger hands ,   eyes lowering to the dark liquid within it .

they've been over this before. they shouldn't kiss and yet this is not the first time they have. the priestess has long left her title, joining the rebellion and in turn, allowing herself that which is forbidden. when arra returns from a dangerous fight, raven is so grateful that the force kept her safe that she doesn't waste her breath, instead pressing an excited lip against the other's

arra has already rummaged through her thoughts on this topic a hundred times — her feelings for raven have crossed a line in her code and turned her aspirations into physical ones, rather than fragmented ones. something about the priestess, the way she exists, the cosmic space around her body, the smile on her lips — any one of those things in isolation would cause arra significant problems, but all together they cast a wide net of unbelievable ache. thankfully, it seems raven feels similarly (raven, one with the force, compelled by its drag and its push in the air), because that first kiss comes with immense gratitude. that kiss turns arra to nothing, to everything, and she kisses back. she is eager. she tucks raven's head between her gentle hands and siphons the emotions of starry centuries into a single kiss. by the time the jedi pulls away, she feels hollow. "we have waited much too long to do that," arra admits, now smiling. "i've needed that forever. i've needed you always."
