The way Azazel calls the psychic kids children... they're in their 20s... they're technically adults... but something changed them before they could become who they are today deep in their blood, and for some of them something happened to them in their past as well marking them in fire. They're starting their lives, but they can't because of how this shaped them, just as they're becoming adults they are automatically cut off from society, maxing in with severe symptoms. And then. Every single one of them dies.

just throwing it out there - if money’s an especially big issue, lovehoney’s a good site to look into, and Tracey Cox does a bullet vibe that’s pretty simplistic but a great starting toy to experiment with (subtle, powerful and cheap)
