Aziraphale frowned. "What you’re saying, then, is that discorporating you would cause more temptations in the end?” “That’s exactly what I’m saying. Not to mention, they’d be better quality, more efficient temptations. And possibly more violent. A lot of Demons really enjoy that sort of thing.” “And you don’t?” asked Aziraphale, softly. “Oh.” Crawly blinked. “Erm. No, I mean, I really like violence. Big violence-er, me. Always calling for more violence in Hell. I like a good flaying, y’know. All that. Screaming. Er.” “Indeed,” said the Angel. Bless it.

This story follows Aziraphale and Crowley's experiences from Eden to the failed Apocalypse, with one scene per decade, every decade, for the entire 6,000 years. I'm drawing predominantly from show canon, with elements of book canon, as well as Biblical and historical inspiration.
Ransom
I am working my way through a writing prompt book, and this popped up: “Tell a story that begins with a ransom note.” Naturally, my brain went straight for Good Omens. Because that’s who I am now, apparently...
____
“HE WILL NOT LIVE UNLESS YOU COME TO CLAIM HIM.”
The rotting, yellow letter is unsigned, but has the unmistakable brimstone-smell of Hell. He knows, because he’s been there. Just once. Just to save his best friend.
His fingers probe into the envelope for the ticket. There’s always a ticket, according to Crowley. They don’t let outsiders in without one.
The ticket reads: IN SATAN WE TRUST SINGLE USER ROUND-TRIP TICKET, DEMON PICKUP ONLY DESTINATION: HELL NAME: AZIRAPHALE, PRINCIPALITY OF HEAVEN, FORMER GUARDIAN OF THE EASTERN GATE PURPOSE: TAKE YOUR BLOODY TRAITOROUS DEMON HOME OR WE WILL KILL HIM. No refunds. No transfers. Non-cancellable. You break it, you bought it. If you break the law of Hell while in Hell, you forfeit the right to your freedom.
Aziraphale sighs. Looks like he’s going back to Hell. To save his best friend. Again. If only the bastard hadn’t gotten himself discorporated. They’d only JUST saved the world! They’d only just, finally, after 6,000 bloody years, begun to hint at saying the thing Aziraphale knows they’ve both always been too afraid to say. They’d only just begun the delightful nightly routine of cuddling in the back room of the bookshop with a nice glass of something alcoholic and very nice music (when it was the angel’s turn to choose it) on the record player.
But no, Crowley, with his lead foot and his seemingly unending death wish, went and got himself into a car accident. Oh, the Bentley is fine, because of course it is, but only because the stupid demon sacrificed himself to save his car. Well, Aziraphale will be damned--no pun intended--if he loses his opportunity to confess certain things to Crowley NOW, when they finally CAN.
The angel flits around the bookshop, tutting frustratedly as he packs his necessities: sword (not flaming, that one was repossessed by Heaven), pocketwatch, sunglasses--not his, mind you, but Crowley will certainly be needing a pair, and a newly blessed insurance policy in a shiny new, tartan-patterned, double-walled, air-locked to go cup. (“Because it’s twenty-fucking-twenty, Aziraphale! Get a damned Hydroflask, it’s much less likely to pop open and kill me!”)
He locks the bookshop door on his way out and doesn’t bother to look back. “Alright, my darling, let’s get this over with,” he mumbles to himself as he walks toward the train station. “I just wanted a nice scotch and a book, maybe a few cuddles, just a normal night in.” He grouses all the way to the sprawling, green entrance that he knows will take him back to Hell, and back to his demon.
“But, I suppose saving you is more important,” he finishes as he steps onto the downtstairs escalator. And so he does.
Blackballed from the industry ten years ago, Anthony Crowley jumps at the chance to star in a new Regency romance miniseries with well-known gay actor Aziraphale Fell in the hopes that it will help him restart his career.
The trouble is Crowley has played all sorts of characters and for the life of him, he can't figure out why he's struggling to play the romantic lead opposite a man.
Chapter 1
Imperfect by Nature
Complete, 43k, Rated T
Tags: Human AU, Neighbors, Childhood friends
Summary: Aziraphale has known Anthony Crowley since they were five years old and his parents moved to the street where the Crowleys lived.
First, they were friends, and then they weren't and, many years later, when Crowley answers the ad to rent the flat above Aziraphale's bookshop, it seems the chemistry they've had since the beginning hasn't gone anywhere. The question becomes, can they move beyond their past and have any sort of future together?

So, this is not a new fic. I posted this fic originally in the fall of 2019 and had a small crisis about it approximately four months ago and quietly deleted it. Yesterday, a friend of mine was trying to find a fic and it turned out to be this one. I sent them a pdf and they encouraged me to re-post alongside a few other friends of mine who had also read this fic and enjoyed it. I suppose in my little crisis I'd forgotten that thing that people say about fics where, even if you have complicated feelings, perhaps negative feelings, towards a work, someone out there might love it. Apologies to anyone who might have really liked this fic and I took it away from you. Honestly, I can't thank my friends enough for their support here. It helped me realize I was being silly, thinking in circles, and forgoing a growth mindset in favor of something more black and white. If you choose to read, or re-read this fic now, know that it's undergone some minor edits. I realize now what I was trying to say and it's much softer than I realized.
Thank you for all your continued support. <3
Part 1 and Part 2

Aziraphale happily works as the librarian of a small liberal arts university in the rural town of Tadfield. When the newly hired biology professor seems to enjoy tormenting his students by sending them after obscure references, she decides he needs a stern talking to. He decides they could be pretty good friends.

I just started posting the second part of this story which will be a series of vignettes following Aziraphale and Crowley as their relationship continues to develop. I fell in love with this AU and couldn’t leave well enough alone.
It’s Only Human Nature After All is complete!
The fourth chapter features the lovely art above from @fledglingdoodles and a resolution to our favorite pair’s shenanigans.
