I would love to have a protected Aziraphale, but I feel that it won't happen because it's more common for Aziraphale to ask Crowley for help and for Crowley to respond quickly. Personally, I feel that this consciously or unconsciously creates an asymmetry in their relationship, we know that Aziraphale loves Crowley, he cares, he wants him alive even if it means being far away or forbidding himself from having him in the way he wants. But something that repeats itself in their dynamic is that when he responds to Crowley's help, he always has to convince him while Crowley's help is taken for granted (this is seen in both seasons). It wouldn't be surprising if Aziraphale returned because he needs Crowley's help, but disguises it as "I came to help you." So, two things need to be clear to me: yeah Crowley is going to help Aziraphale, no matter the pain he feels, there's no way Crowley will let his anger or heartbreak override his need to keep Aziraphale safe but we also need Aziraphale not to declare the world can be doomed and spend their last moments together that would be very out of character for him. However, he has to be the one to seek Crowley's help and not wait for Crowley to return as he's always accustomed because otherwise we'll continue to see them repeating a very asymmetrical dynamic.
Hey, sorry, I forgot to answer.
I don't exactly know what to expect from the movie. I think the whole point, for the two of them to finally be together, is that they both need to grow a little. Because while Crowley is right - they don't need Heaven, they don't need Hell - Aziraphale is also right saying that they wouldn't and couldn't have been happy if they'd just fucked off somewhere and left humanity to its own devices. So I think we might see something unespected from both of them.
