Short Story - The origin of Azral the Starlit Prince Once upon a time there lived a young dragon that lived in a small lake at the top of a hill. His name was Azral and for all the years he lived, he never once left his lake. It was not like he didn't want to leave but he could not move past the edge. Every time he tried he could only stand at the edge and look out to the village below. His legs refused to walk, several times he tried throwing himself over the edge but a strange wind always blew strong to send him crashing back into the lake.

No one ever visited him in his lake even though he cried out to the village of tiny creatures every so often. He tried for years before giving up, perhaps they were just too far to hear him. Instead he turned his gaze upwards and called out to the stars for someone to listen. To hear him, to speak with him, to keep him company.

For years they never replied to his calls and then on a cold night there was but a single star in the sky. He called out to it asking where the others went and instead of staying silent the star began to grow brighter and brighter until he realized that it was falling towards him.

With excitement and fear he watched it fall and upon reaching him it was blinding and burned his eyes. He reached out his claws and caught it and though it was almost too hot to hold he held on. It's voice seared through his mind almost without meaning and without a second thought Azral ate the star.

At first nothing changed but then a sharp heat broke through him and his form changed. Taking on one that was similar to the tiny creatures in the village below. But he could see more now, small see through beings walking around his lake, the bones of giant creatures buried beneath the edges of his lake, and when he looked up he could see and hear all the hidden stars.

They told him he was now carrying the light of their own and he was starlit and blessed. One of them had taken pity on the trapped dragon Azral and now is a part of him. They would always be with him and in his reach should he get lonely. The small voice inside him bestowed the name Starlit Prince upon him and he grinned. He didn’t know what a prince was but the sound of the name made him giddy.

He tested the invisible barrier and found with a bubbling laugh that he could leave his lake. For the first time since he was born he could finally leave his lake and see everything. He had no wings but he felt as if he could fly with the joy he felt. With that feeling he made his way towards the village.

Azral

A gray bat showing space in her wings. She’s missing one eye with an ‘X’ eyepatch covering it. When not in her own dimension with Galax and the others, she’s a living glitch that constantly flickers in and out of reality. Will be rude at times and curses sometimes. Constantly trying to find Noc.

Galax

A motherly figure to Azral, being a woman with moth-like wings. Fingers are replaced with claws. Has four arms. Azral comments “If looks could kill, she’d be a murderer.” Was with Noc, but divorced due to constant manipulation(It wasn’t him manipulating.) Never curses.

Noc

A shadow being, fatherly figure to Azral. Always in a different dimension, so very hard to find. Slightly sadistic. Four sets of red eyes, but the main set is usually the only one open. Curses very often, so don’t interact if cursing makes you uncomfortable.
