Our wildlife adventures continued when I let Max out back to go potty. I went out with him in case the javelina were in the wild backyard (they weren't), and what did we find? A Sonoran Desert Toad! Thankfully it was fast and I was able to grab Max before he grabbed the toad. I was worried its skin might be poisonous. 😨 . . . . Photo Two shows the toad trying to escape our near backyard. It was not successful. Eventually, with the help of a broom and a pool net, I was able to get it over the back wall into the wild backyard. At first, I just had the pool net. But every time I got the toad into the net, it jumped out of it almost immediately. Once I got the broom, I was able to hold it down while I raised the net over the back wall. 😊 . . . . Photo Three is an extreme close-up of the toad. It's kind of blurry, though, so that's why I zoomed out and took the first photo. 😊❤ . . . . I hope we're done with invaders now. A scorpion on Sunday. Javelina and a toad on Saturday. It's been quite a week. 😕 . . . . Oh! Monsoon Season started yesterday, June 15th, so that probably explains the toad. (It was a First Sighting for me, though!) And we have a road crew out on the street who is installing pipes under it. I can probably blame them for the scorpion. 😕 . . . . The mass invasion of javelina tonight probably had something to do with the monsoon rains today, too. Our poor quail block might not survive. 😕 . . . . So, exciting times here in the Sonora Desert this week! 😀 Here's hoping this next week will be quieter. ❤❤❤ . . . . #AZfauna #AZtoad #SonoranDesertToad
