i love your blog, always come back here to find words written by people who’ve felt the same as i may be feeling. i’m wondering if there’s a compilation of words about sickness - particularly a family member being sick, and being surrounded by sickness and overwhelmed with taking care of them all the time, and watching them decay over the years. or if you have authors/works to recommend related to this that would also be great. i could use some comfort. thank you.
hi <3 from what i remember, hélène cixous' hyperdream (tr. beverly bie brahic) and carole maso's the art lover both involve caretaking of ill family (the mother in hyperdream) or the witnessing of family and close friends with terminal illness (a father and best friend in the art lover). for non-fiction, you might take a look at atul gawande's being mortal: medicine and what matters in the end and alysia abott's fairyland: a memoir of my father. sending you all my love <3
