What is Azure Lab Services?
Azure Lab Services allows you to create labs with Azure-managed infrastructure. The service manages the entire infrastructure, from spinning up virtual machines (VMs) to dealing with errors and scaling the infrastructure. Administrators, educators, and students were the primary personas considered when developing Azure Lab Services. An educator can quickly set up a lab for the class after an IT administrator creates a lab plan. Teachers setup the template VM, decide how many and what kind of virtual machines are required, then add students to the class.
After signing up for the class, a user can enter the virtual classroom to complete class assignments.
Here are some of the use cases for Azure Hands-on Cloud Labs :
Provide students with a lab of virtual machines that are pre-configured with everything they need for a class. Allow each student a set number of hours to use the virtual machines for homework or personal projects.
Create a pool of high-performance compute VMs for compute- or graphics-intensive research. Run the VMs as needed, and then clean up the machines.
Put the actual computer lab at your school online. Scale the number of virtual machines (VMs) automatically only up to the lab's maximum use and expense level.
Create a virtual machine lab quickly in order to host a hackathon. When you're finished, delete the lab with a single click.
