Maybe Unicorn Shuichi at one point gets into a accident during a case where his chipped off like Tempest Shadow. It was at the time where he was at his prime as a detective. Kaede comforts him.

That's a cool setting for Moonlight!
But actually,Moonlight's horn is still complete,he doesn't get any physical damage in his first case,but on the mental.And that's why he chooses to wear a cap,he was afraid of eyesight contacts.
But,maybe,I could take that setting back when I was working on V2 (Yup,V2 event was included in this AU,but the ending doesn't end too well)
I decided that I'll update the protagonists first,and then the other casts

Azure Moonlight's parents was a famous actor and a screenwriter which works in Canterlot and he lives and helps his uncle runs a detective agency in Manehattan.
One day,a murder case happened, and the police couldn't find the culprit.Moonlight's uncle went to Ponyvile for a business trip that time,so Moonlight had to solve the case by himself.
By finding the truth,he gained his cutie-mark.But the gaze of the culprit before he was being sent to jail had become Moonlight's nightmare... It's full with bottomless hatred,which Azure Moonlight will never forget.
After that,he started to wear a hat because he was afraid to having any eyesight contact with anypony.And then,his uncle sent him to Hope's Peak Academy,hoping he could overcome his nightmare.
Loki: Azure’s Lunar Guard training classes are across the hall from my Dream Guide lessons.
Azure: I’m going to be in Thestral Recon since I’m so great a being stealthy.
Loki: She keeps sneaking into my room to scare me. I’m going to have to start warding the window and door.
