A couple weeks/months ago I posted about a upcoming article in B-Metro magazine, here and here. It's all about homebrewing!!!
Well the article finally made it to print!!!
What A Drag!
If "I Can't Drive 55" is your personal theme song, then you'll love my newest article in B-Metro Magazine. The story centers around local drag racer, auto shop owner, and speed enthusiast T. J. Deemer, his equally insane girlfriend Amanda Lackey, and their lives which center around drag racing.
While most of their racing takes place these days on the track, they tell some great stories about racing on the city streets of Birmingham in their youth. Those days behind them, T.J. and Amanda spend their time working on his Cevrolet Camaro and taking it out to local dragstrips like Lassiter Mountain near Gardendale, Alabama, and the Alabama International Dragway in rural Steele, Alabama.
I had a great time listening to these two gearheads tell some really cool and funny stories about trying to outrun the fuzz when street racing was a big deal in town. Also, the photos by local photographer Beau Gustafson are, as always, perfect.
Warning If you drive a Smart Car or are a mass transit weenie, you're probably not going to like this story.
