I would just like to point out how much I enjoy seeing Jade (the world’s second deadliest assassin) wearing mommy capris! It’s cute how the Young Justice creators considered even the fine details of Jade as a mother. Maybe they didn’t really put that much thought into it, but I like to think they did!
Wally: Hey! What are you reading?
Artemis: A book.
(Wally’s big smile is replaced by an annoyed frown)
Wally: Yeah. I can see that, but what is it about?
Artemis: Why do you care? I thought you were allergic to anything that involves reading besides a food label.
Wally: Ha ha! Very funny. But it just so happens that I’m not! Sooo?
Artemis: “Sigh” Fine. It’s called Dumb Luck. My sister gave it to me when I was little and I like to occasionally reread it. It’s about a young redheaded boy named Xuan who is consistently experiencing luck in the dumbest ways possible. There is more to it, but I’ll spare your slow working brain the pain of keeping up.
(Wally’s face turns a bright red due to Artemis’ embarrassing remark)
Wally: Fine! If your going to be mean, I’ll just leave!
Artemis: Wait! Ok. I’m sorry! Happy?
Wally: Very! (Wally says with a big smirk)
Artemis: Would you like me to read it to you?
Wally: Really? You would do that for me?
Artemis: If it makes you stop talking.
(Wally races to the couch positioning himself comfortably next to Artemis nearly taking up the whole sofa)
Artemis: You comfortable?
Wally: Very much!
(Artemis starts reading as Wally watches her express each sentence as though she is rehearsing for a play)
(Thirty minutes pass and Artemis had read over three chapters)
Artemis: Well, I’m stopping now.
Wally: Aww man! It was just getting good!
Artemis: I’ll read you more later.
Wally: Promise?
(Artemis looks at Wally with his silly red hair, adorable freckles and big bright green eyes as he smiles for a response)
Artemis: Ok. I promise.

Wally: Oh! Uh. G.r.a.t.e!
Dick: Dude. Seriously?

Dick: Whatever dude. So, did anything interesting happen?
Wally: Actually, yeah!
Dick: Well spill dude!
Wally: It’s kind of embarrassing. But ok. So, we went to a Vietnamese restaurant in Palo Alto and I ordered boiled chicken. Well, the lady gave me a huge yellow chicken! Literally dude! Head, feet! Everything!
Dick: Wow! That’s awesome!
Wally: Uh. Yeah. Artemis and I were both pretty caught off guard, but then she just started laughing.
Dick: Sounds like Artemis. Did you have fun?
Wally: It was a blast! Afterwards, we went to the Cream Barn for ice cream! Aww man! It was so good!
Dick: Yum! Did you guys share a cone?
Wally: What! No! We did share dinner though.
Dick: Awww! How romantic.
Wally: Whatever dude! You know I’m never romantic when it comes to sharing food!
Dick: Haha! How could I forget! Did you give her a goodbye kiss?
(Wally’s face starts turning a tomato red)
Wally: Dude!
Dick: Hahaha! Is that a yes?!
Wally: You know what! I’m going to go eat all of your birthday cake! How do you like that!

Wally: Hey Dude! What’s up?
Dick: I should be asking you.
Wally: What are you talking about?
Dick: Rumor has it that you and Artemis (Dick leans closer to Wally and whispers) “kissed.”
Wally: What!! Who started that rumor?
Dick: I’m not sure. So is it true then?
Wally: What! Nooo!
(Dick’s eyebrow raises at Wally as the detective can tell his best bud is lying)
Wally: I…I…OK! Yes! It’s true!
Dick: Dude! That’s great! How was it?
Wally: Dude! It’s personal! Besides, Artemis would kill me if I said anything.
Dick: Ok! Ok! I understand!
Wally: By the way, where is everyone?
Dick: Well, the girls all went out to lunch, Conner is outside walking Wolf, and Kaldur took Roy out for some buddy time.
Wally: Buddy time?
Dick: Yeah. That’s not what Kaldur called it, but still.
Wally: Ok. Great. Sooo, care to challenge me to a round of ping pong?
Dick: You’re on!
(Meanwhile, the girls are all having lunch at Betty’s Good Cookin’. The one place in the city that makes you feel like you’re at a friends house in the country)
M’gann: Ha ha! You’re funny Artemis! Just because you can’t cook doesn’t mean you can’t learn!
Artemis: Ha! Please! If only!
Zatanna: Well, M’gann can cook and you can learn.
Artemis: Are you implying that M’gann could teach me?
M’gang: That’s a great idea Z! I could teach you!
Artemis: Um. I don’t know.
Zatanna: Come on Artemis! What do you have to lose?
M’gann: Yeah! Besides, If you don’t learn, you won’t be able to cook for Wally!
Artemis: What! What are you talking about? Why in the world would I want to cook for Wally!
Zatanna: Oh come on Artemis! You’re not fooling anyone! We all know about you and Wally!
Artemis: I don’t know what you’re talking about.
M’gann: Oh Artemis. It’s ok. You can tell us the truth.
Artemis: “Sigh” Ok. Fine. Wally and I kissed.
Zatanna: That’s great! Tell us all the details!
M’gann: Where was it, how was it, and who made the first move?
Artemis: Woah! Woah! Guys! Seriously?
Zatanna: Come on! We’re your friends! Spill!
Artemis: Ha ha! Ok, but only a little.
(Zatanna and M’gann quickly scooted their chairs towards Artemis eager to hear every detail)
Artemis: Ok. It happened after Roy and my fight. Wally was helping me get cleaned up. You know. With the blood.
Zatanna: Ewww! Ok. Spare us that detail!
Artemis: Ha! Ha! Alright. Suddenly I noticed Wally staring at me intensely. Somehow I already knew how he felt, but I was too nervous or stubborn to say anything. I guess I wanted him to make the first move. Then he told me I had beautiful eyes.
M’gann: Awwww! How romantic!
Zatanna: Don’t stop! Keep going!
Artemis: Ok! ok! Then he started leaning in closer to me, and that was all I wanted, him to make the first move.
Zatanna: Does that count as a first move?
Artemis: Ha ha! It counts for me!
M’gann: Ohhh! How adorable!!!
Dick: Dude! What’s up?
(Wally clearly in thought sitting in the kitchen)
Wally: Oh. Hey dude. Just, you know, thinking.
Dick: Woah! Dude! I didn’t know you did that!
(Wally looks at Dick clearly annoyed)
Dick: Dude. Are you ok?
Wally: Yeah. I’m fine.
Dick: You sure, because you look moded.
Wally: “Sigh” It’s just, the more time I try to spend with Artemis, the more I feel like she finds me annoying.
Dick: Dude, pretty much everyone finds you annoying.
Wally: Dude! Seriously! Not helping!
Dick: Ok, ok. Maybe I’m exaggerating a bit. Why don’t you just try telling her how you feel instead of trying to come up with dumb excuses for being around her.
Wally: You know, most of those excuses were from you every time I’ve asked for advice.
Dick: “Heh” yeah, but nobody has to know that.
Wally: I just want her to feel the same way I do. I mean sure, we’ve had our fights but I was stupid back then! I didn’t know her. Now, I see her as she is.
Dick: And how’s that?
Wally: Well, it’s kind of embarrassing to explain exactly how I feel.
Dick: Dude! We’re pals! That’s what I’m here for!
Wally: Ok. Fine. I guess I never realized it before, but the feelings l’ve started having for Artemis are like the way I feel on thanksgiving morning. That feeling when I walk into the kitchen and my heart races a million miles per hour seeing the tasty turkey, buttered bread rolls, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, ham, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Oh! Man! She makes me feel happy every time I see. Sure she doesn’t have very many nice things to say, but that’s all a cover up for what she is really like, especially when I spend time with her. She becomes herself. The most beautiful, funniest, smartest, kindest person I’ve ever met!
Dick: Wow! Not only am I hungry now but are you sure we are talking about the same Artemis? I mean the one who elbows you all the time for saying stupid stuff? The one who beats you up every time you practice sparring with her?
Wally: Yeah. That’s the one. (Romantically gazing off into space while resting his head on his hand leaning against the kitchen table)
Dick: Ok dude. If that’s what you like, I won’t discourage it.
Wally: So. What should I do?
Dick: I already told you! Tell her how you feel!
Wally: Aww man! I thought you would give me easier advice.
Dick: Sorry dude, but you have no other choice. Clearly nothing else is working.
Wally: Yeah. I guess you’re right. Well. Here goes nothing.
