As much as Wally wanted to be a good friend or helpful or whatever, he was far too full of energy to be able to just sit still while Barbara slept on him. He grimaced slightly, poking the top of her head with one finger, not wanting her to know that it was him who woke her up, but wanting her to wake up badly. “Barbara, I have to pee,” he whispered. “Please, wake up, but not because of me because I don’t want you to be angry at me.”

Lois let out a dry laugh, swirling the contents of her glass as she leaned against the table on her elbows. She clicked her tongue lightly in her mouth and then glanced down. “I know how that feels,” she said, pressing her lips together for a moment. “But that doesn’t mean that it’s how you’re supposed to feel, you know? Like, yeah, this shit sucks, but there’s always something out there that sucks more, and you can always pick yourself back up.” She chuckled again, shaking her head and finishing her drink. “I could just be rambling, though. I don’t know.”
