As a Southerner I cannot stress how little I think or care about Miami. Like NOLA is a cultural powerhouse and Atlanta is economically important with cultural influence and Nashville is there I guess but Miami??? I forget that place exists on the regular
haha totally hear u!! atlanta would probably be my next choice i think if i were to stick to a southern city??? but when I think about what ppl outside each region would think of in terms of major cities, miami seemed more similar to the other three. like when i was growing up on the west coast, it was one of the “cool cities” ppl wanted to move to or go visit like los angeles. it might’ve just been featured in a lot of shows in the early-mid 2000s though (i did watch too much csi: miami, burn notice, and dexter), but it’s also the big carribean cultural hub in the US so it’s very much on latines’ radars. i could see atlanta, maybe nashville bc i think it’s more widely thought of, but i think new orleans feels more like a secondary major city similar to sf, seattle, boston, detroit, etc though - like they’re all still important in terms of history, economy, and cultural influence but don’t feel like they’re quite on the same level as new york, los angeles, or chicago. i feel like generally #4 is so subjective like is there criteria or is it just vibes
