Oh, c'mon! You know just as well as I do that we weren't in any danger. Do we really need to 'talk' about it? ....Right. Stupid question. Well, um, do you need any help with the computers?
You fail to understand that you could have put this entire team in danger. We are going to talk about this in detail, but right now I need you to go through a series of basic tests on one of the League's outgoing networks. I want to determine to what extent I'll have to update security systems.
Oh. Uh.... You know, I think I might have left the frequencies for the League's system's network in the Watchtower running the last time I hacked into their database. Which would be the reason why Marvin connected into it so easily and suddenly. Whoops?
Robin I warned you of the dangers concerning hacking into League Systems. I thought after my first warning in the League's database you would at least exert some caution, but I see you still need to deal with the consequences of your actions. If it had been someone that wanted to attack the League and the Team you would have left us all vulnerable.
Zatanna had stayed up late, studying. Really, really late. Her candles were going out one by one - yes she found it easier to study by candlelight, mood lighting hello - she'd studied for a test in school, and now she was going over her magic. And time got away from her when she studied magic.
She'd nodded off into her old spell book, trying to go over the specifics of some more healing magic. Zatanna figured that perhaps learning a bit more of that type of magic couldn't hurt, but it was so complex, and it was really, late.
You know. There's something else I've never understood. Why do scientists call it research when they're looking for something new?
Well...I suppose it's because they're actually looking for something that's not actually new, it's something that already exists and they just want to...discover it. Or something.
It makes more sense when research is in the context of, like, a paper for school, I guess? Like when you research stuff on the internet, it's technically already been searched for and found, you just need to find it...again...
Zatanna: - sleeping soundly in med bay bed, fever down -
Robin: Rob's waiting for Zee to wake up; it's been a few hours, he thinks, and he's starting to get restless. He's been fiddling with the ends of the blanket for awhile now, every so often glancing up at Zatanna's sleeping face. The fever had finally broken about a half hour ago, something to which he was very grateful. He hated being sick, and could only imagine everyone else did as well. He sits back in his chair when he sees her stir, not wanting to awake her; rather waiting on her to wake naturally. He was kind of wondering what her dreams were about. Were they of him?-
Zatanna: -zatanna stirred a bit more, getting more comfortable in her blankets and snuggling into them with a small smile, before the heat of the extra blanket made her sweat enough to struggle with them a bit, unconsciously of course, kicking the blankets off a bit and exposing her skin to the air, her clothes sticking to her body with sweat -
Robin: -He watched her for awhile longer, not feeling all that creeper-ish, though it could definitely be construed as such. Being a bat kind of gave one those types of privileges though, he guessed. In any sense, he only wanted to make sure she was alright. (The next order of business was learning to deal with all this worry, because he was so not getting early gray hairs.) She struggled with the top blanket, obviously getting too hot. Rob was quick to pull it back down to her feet, but not quick enough for her not to kick some of them away. Her skin was showing, her shirt having ridden up a bit to expose her flat stomach. He was usually careful with where he looked, but he couldn't help it. She was, well, there and no one else was. Her skin was smooth, if a bit sweaty because of the fever. It made him think of the other day on the couch. Aah, he probably shouldn't…not here, at least…-
Zatanna: - Zatanna groans a bit, flipping onto her back, restless -
Robin: Robin blinked a few times, trying to clear his head. Pulling his knees up to his chest and resting his chin on his knees, he settled in for a few more minutes. Surely she'd wake up soon. His thoughts drifted again..still on Zatanna. She really was very pretty, very appealing.. rather..shapely for a girl her age.- Those are not appropriate thoughts, Rob. Snap out of it. -Her sleepy groan made him shiver, made him think back to when she'd made that same noise as he bit into her neck.-
Zatanna: -.....still sleeping, though getting a bit more restless, screwing up her eyes and groaning again -
Robin: Mmf… -He buried his face in his knees, feeling embarrassed. Those sounds she made.. He could practically feel his hormone levels rising.- God, snap out of it, Rob… -He'd touched her in ways he didn't think she'd allow, but she did and he wanted more. He wanted to run his hands all over her, feel her out, trace all the curves with his hands and his nose and his tongue.-
Zatanna: - eyes scrunch up, tossing and turning a bit more, gripping at the bed sheets, sweating more even though she wasn't as hot -
Robin: Zatanna thrashed some more and that brought the boy out of his hazy, hormone induced thoughts of how well she fit up against his own body, how his light and teasing touches made her squirm. He recognized that body language almost instantly. She was having a nightmare, and a bad one at that. He stood from his chair, and then sat right back down on her bed, reaching a hand to place on her shoulder. It was to steady her, and to help bring her out of the awful dream slowly. Quickly waking someone from a bad dream was never very pretty, and if she shocked awake, it could injure her shoulder further.- It's okay, Zee. It's fine. You're safe. Nothing can hurt you in here.
Zatanna: - stills slightly at his touch, but whimpers, eyes watering up and flinching a bit -
Robin: -He brushed sweaty hair from her face, wiping away a tear from the corner of her eye with his thumb, and wished he could make all the hurt she was feeling go away.- Sssh, ssh. It's okay, Zee. It's alright now.
Zatanna: - mumbles in her sleep, only audible words being 'no' or 'dad', and just barely...jolts awake suddenly, gasping, panting with tears in her eyes -
Robin: - It feels like his heart skipped a beat, or perhaps even stopped altogether. He knew she was lying about being okay, about handling her father's…absence. He couldn't imagine what it was like; knowing the one you loved the most was right there, but still so unattainable. In a way, he supposed it was worse than Giovanni simply dying. This was torture. He found he couldn't work up any words to say, and Rob supposed it didn't matter. She couldn't hear him, not really, so he hummed. He hummed a soft song, one his mother used to sing in the light of the early mornings as she bustled about. If anything, maybe just a simple presence would be enough to calm her down. He could only hope.-
Zatanna: - bleary-eyed, crying, she hears him vaguely and sniffles - R-robin...? -takes a few deep breaths, looking around and trying to remember where she is -
Robin: -He stops humming, blinking. Rob curls a hand in the sheets beside him, itching to reach out and comfort her but stopping himself.- Hey, lovely. You're in the med bay. It's five in the afternoon, and you're looking as beautiful as always. -He smiles slightly, hoping to take her mind off of whatever exactly was troubling her.-
Zatanna: - her eyes are still leaking tears slowly, but she nods slowly, barely registering what he said, shaking a bit before sitting up and wiping at her eyes, not really helping - - she looks to Robin, face and eyes red and blotchy - M'sorry...I-I... - tries not to cry again -
Robin: -This isn't really a time for kisses, he thinks, so he does the only thing he knows how and gathers her in a hug, holding her close- It's okay, Zee. I get it. You don't need to apologize.
Zatanna: -nods repeatedly into his shirt, crying into his shoulder, wrapping her arms around him and shaking, trying and failing to hold back the sobs, letting go - Sorry....sorry....my fault...a-all my fault....sorry... - mumbles in between sobs and shaky intakes of breath -
Robin: -He holds onto her tighter, running a hand through her hair in what he hopes is a soothing motion.- Please don't blame yourself, Zatanna. It's okay. No one else blames you. You're so brave, so please don't fall to that.
Zatanna: - unable to do anything but nod - ...mm.... -continues to cry, clinging to him desperately, though calming down slightly, comforted by his presence -
Robin: If anything, let this be your motivation to be better, you know? So you can kick Fate's hind end. 'Kay? -He continued to hold onto her, glad she was calming down.-
Zatanna: - calms down more, trying to control her breathing, but doesn't loosen her grip on him - Mmmm....was 'ready planning on that...but...m'not doing a very g-good job...
Robin: S'alright. You'll get better, just you wait. -rubs her back-
Zatanna: -nods again, lifting her face away from being buried in his shoulder, facing his neck instead, regulating her breathing a bit more, though still shaky. She loosens her deathgrip on him, ceasing her crying and just getting comfortable in his arms - ...Thank you. -whispers -
Robin: You know I don't mind. Or at least, I hope you know. Either way, you do now. -pulls away from her slightly so he can look in her eyes- Want to talk about it?
Zatanna: -bites her lip, unsure... - .....m-maybe.
Robin: - caresses her cheek, looking at her fondly- No pressure. You don't have to if you don't want to.
Zatanna: - leans into the touch, looking up into his sunglasses, biting her lip at that wall between them...again. She looks away, disappointed in herself for wanting to violate his privacy -
Robin: -smiles, bumping their noses together, completely unaware of her disappointment - So.. Feel any better? You should probably take more meds..
Zatanna: - smiles only slightly, but doesn't really feel anything behind it - y-yeah...not... deliriously sick or anything...were you here the whole time?
Robin: Erm.- He shifts, freeing from Zatanna's embrace completely before standing and finding more antibiotics.- That depends on whether or not you would think it creepy if I were.
Zatanna: -chuckles lightly - Well, it'd depend on what you were doing, exactly, now wouldn't it? Were you just waiting for my fever to break, or....? -tries to be teasing -
Robin: Ah ha ha.. I was monitoring your condition, if you must know. -hands her a few more pills and a glass of water- Non-drowsy this time. –grins-
Zatanna: -She narrows her eyes, with a sly smile - Oh, you dog, you. - Takes the pills and swallows them -
Robin: -He holds his hands up in defense, shaking his head with a matching smile and taking a seat in front of her.- Hey, I didn't say anything. Nothing incriminating, at least.
Zatanna: Oh, don't think I don't get what you're implying. No desperate make-outs for you, I'm afraid. -Doesn't even mention that she wouldn't want to get him sick by swapping spit -
Robin: I'm not implying anything. -he shrugs, picking at the hem of his jeans as he sits crosslegged- You're reading too much into this, Zee.
Zatanna: -rolls her eyes - sure I am. -smiles - So, what did you really do while I was out?
Robin: Played tetris. -sticks his tongue out, laughing after-
Zatanna: -dismisses it with a wave of her hand - How mature.
