ooo horns i can talk about horns!

so when going to draw horns, the two most important things to consider are where the horns are placed on the head, and how the shape of the horn curls (if it has a curl to it.)

Here’s a basic walkthrough for how I draw ram horns:

Firstly you can place your horns in several places. Common ones are above the browbone or on curve of the skull about an inch and a half to two inches above the ear. That’s where I place mine!

Ram horns require being able to visualize the curve. When first starting out, I like to draw an arrow to help guide me on which parts will overlap each other. It’s important to remember that they will always curve backwards first (unless you’re tweaking them for a specific design) and then curve back forwards and twist outward away from the face. The goal with horns is to NOT stab the body they’re on. That’s usually pretty good for Not Dying.

Here’s a very simple set of curved horns.

For horns with ridges this is how I like to lay them out to give them mass.

And then I draw the rest of the character, and use their hair to cover up the base if I want to.

I may add on to this eventually with more parts, but that’s a REALLY basic rundown of how I draw horns. Here’s some other examples:

Yes I think they’d get along swimmingly. They discuss very important things (tearing up curtains) and have meaningful interactions (play fight each other)
