I love watching chicks grow.
Well, I had an eventful day yesterday. I went out to candle eggs and this chick was attacking his mom! I saw him grab onto mom Dust Bunny’s face, and of course she retaliated and now he has a big wound on his chest. I had to separate him from mom and now he is in my house. He is the most aggressive little thing. Attacks my hand every time he sees it. He also, of course, cries when I remove my hand. I now have multiple little beak wounds. It’s so odd. I’ve bred both of his parents before and gotten quite a few chicks out of them, and none have been aggressive. I’ve also never seen aggression so young.
