Flak is 12 today!! Grumpy old man is even older and grumpier. Yet despite it all, he remains dedicated to doing his job, keeping tabs, making sure I'm okay.

This is the first time I haven't got him a special treat for his birthday, feels.. not great. Getting him to eat nowadays is like pulling teeth, so I need him to stay focused on semi healthy foods. Winter was really, really rough. He still never recovered sight in his eye, he lost a lot of confidence, and overall his heath has just.. really deteriorated. He needs a lot of care every day. But he wakes up and mostly has a good day everyday still. He helps me in the yard, naps a lot, supervises me in the office, scrutinizes aquariums, spars with my partner.

I know he's in his twilight years. I'm just thankful every morning I get to wake up and he's on the headboard waiting for me.

Okay it is not part of any daily drawing theme but @blackforrestpunk wanted a vampire chicken so here he is.

Count Chickula is based on serama bantam roosters which if you've ever met a bantam will not surprise you. He's little but he will fight you.
