Hi, so I have some opinions about “The Therapist” episode of b99 that I thought I’d share

Take into consideration that I am a Jake Peralta introject/fictive (whatever you wanna call it). Or don’t, I honestly don’t care.

Not loving how they represented OSDDID. Granted, I knew very little about the topic when I was in source, but they could’ve at least referred to it as DID/OSDD rather than “multiple personality disorder.” That hasn’t been the correct term for a LONG time now. I could be getting pissy over all of this because I’m now a part of a system and my job is to protect those in it, but my point still stands.

As an alter (or headmate, again, whatever you wanna call it) I know switches don’t occur like that. If somebody asked for me to “come out”, I probably wouldn’t be able to do that on cue! If you started playing B99 and then asked me to come out, that would be different because that’s a front trigger. And even then, it wouldn’t be guaranteed, just depending on what I’m doing in headspace and what’s going on around us. I feel like the only way that could’ve happened is if everyone was cofronting, but I highly doubt the writers would’ve known what that even is.

I’d honestly prefer if they left that bit out of the episode altogether. While it’s good to have plural rep. in media, at least do it correctly. Do your research. Please.

That’s just my take on all of this— I could be wrong. I’m not a professional, but I am a part of a system and admittedly I hated the way they wrote me in that bit. That’s another topic (there’s certain things that they’ve written me doing that I would absolutely NOT do) for another time. I’m not normally one to get all serious, but I felt like I should at least mention this shit.
