Wishing everyone A Very Happy Bihu!! 🌳 🌴🌵🌸🌻💐🌾🌿🍁🍃🌹🌷🌻 #Bihu dance, a #folk dance from the #Indian state of Assam which is situated in the north east corner of #India .The traditional #Bihudance is done during the festival of Bihu in #Assam. The Bihu festival is celebrated in Assam three times a year. The most important and colourful of the three Bihu festivals is the Spring festival " #Bohag Bihu" celebrated in the middle of April. #Songs sung in Bihu are woven around themes of love & often carry erotic overtones.People adorn traditional attires like Dhoti, #Gamocha , #Mekhala & #Chadar . The Bihu dance is a joyous dance performed by both young men and women. It is characterized by brisk dance steps, rapid flinging and flipping of hands and rhythmic swaying of hips representing youthful passion, reproductive urge & 'Joie-de-vivre'. #Dancers wear traditionally colorful #Assamese clothing. Both male & female dancers take part in this dance. #Drums are an essential #instrument in this dance and are traditionally called Dhol which is operated using a single stick. The dancers form a circle or a straight line & dance to the tune of the #Dhol .However, there are subtle differences between the dance of the males and females. There are specific hip, arm and postures in this dance. The dance is highly brisk synchronized with the swaying & suave movements of the arms & the body.Besides the Dhol musicians perform many other instruments like the #Pepa , #Taal ,Toka,Xutuli, Gogona & #Baahi which come together to form just the perfect beats for dancing.Source: indianfolkdances, mythicalindia, tourmyindia #dances #dancesofindia #festivals #festivities #culture #ilovedance #cultureofindia #music Song Credits:Zubeen Garg
