Have you watched Baba Jani? It’s good to finally see a mainstream actor play a non-misogynistic, caring and loving father/husband. Someone who doesn’t have anger issues, who doesn’t believe in suppressing women and wants to take care of his relations. Faiza Iftikhar is genuinely such a wholesome writer and we need more plays where not only women are standing up for themselves but men also being a part of the empowerment. It’s not all black for men and it needs to be shown!
I haven’t watched that show and have only given its story a cursory glance but if it is all that you are saying then all I can say is - ABOUT DAMN TIME!! First off it’s refreshing for me to see Faisal Qureshi not act younger than he is and opting to play the character of an older man (though I do think he shot for Baba Jani and Haiwaan simultaneously. Like him and Sawera Nadeem went back and forth the two sets in the same car xD) Secondly..I completely agree that showing positive, supportive men who are soft, kind, trustworthy is something that we desperately need to show more. I don’t think any person can be empowered all on their own. We all need a solid support system to help us on our way to being empowered. And in our society which is patriarchal to begin, men being that support system will only help. It’s so easy, almost lazy, to fit almost all the male characters in the role of traditional oppressors on TV. Give us more male characters whose first instinct isn’t to somehow make the life of the women he is connected to hell. Give the audience positive role models for the sons they are raising or the brothers they have. Mard aurat pe zulm karta hai ye old news hai. Change the narrative now. Mard aurat ka saathi aur muhafiz hai...make that the norm. I am so glad Faiza Iftikhar knows how to write positive heroes that seem closer to reality than fantasy. Her skills when it comes to characterization are no joke. And it’s AMAZING that she uses those skills to show a different, more positive side to what a “hero” has become on TV.

Another Open Letter To The World From A Grieving Daughter
Dear all who keep telling me to be strong with a bunch of other suggestions that make it excruciatingly difficult for me grief and find peace, I did not plan to write such a letter ever as grieving over the loss of a loved one is something very personal and everyone has their own way to do so. I am forced to write this letter only because I find it very sad that our society makes it almost…

بیتے زمانے beetay zamaanay Ages have passed کسی بہانے kisi bahaanay Yet the thought of my sweetheart اسے یاد کروں ussay yaad karun Is still with me ہیں جو یادیں بھکری مورے انگنا hain jo yaaden bhikri moray angina Every corner of my home is filled with your memories کبھی تو بھی یاد کرے kabhi tu bhi yaad karay I hope you also think of me sometimes وہاں جانے کے بعد ساری عمر wahaan jaanay kay baad…
