That is true. Your opinions are your own and I never wished to truely change your opinions, just to show you that you should do your research before you start talking negatively about certain things.
Considering all the information in the textbook that you failed to read. And just because you are a nutrition major, does not mean you know everything about the science and they should understand the need for sources to back up their claims. (nongmoproject.org is definitely a biased source becuase you can tell which side they support by just seeing the web address) The only sources that are not biased are scientific journals. Find me a journal article that supports everything you say and I'll back down.
You're right that I shouldn't have used Monsanto as a source for that information, but I had found it elsewhere as well and not just on their website. I wanted to cite their actual statement. Also, Monsanto may be "bad' but that doesn't mean their products are bad and that is what we are discussing.
And you say that they are not regulated, when they are. However, the regulation may not be as good as it should be, but you cannot deny that it exists.US Regulation I never once said that there were no risks to GMOs. There are, but so are there to most things and like those other things, the benefits outweigh the risks. And yes, the Golden Rice project is not ready, but it is the step in the right direction. People need to start coming up with ideas and this is one of those ideas.
Also, your opinions on the country's waste of food and meat-orientated society and testing on animals have nothing to do with GMO safety and have no point to be in this discussion because they don't add to your arguments.
This is also one of those extremely debated topics that makes it incredibly difficult to find non-bias sources for either side.
So I wrote this and she has only fifteen min before the forum closes
The only reason I felt it necessary to enhance my argument is because you attacked me with outside sources that were biased towards your argument, and to show you I have claims to back my arguments up, perhaps just as biased, but nonetheless they exist and thus make my argument based in fact as well as opinion. Its my opinion that animals should not be tested on, its my opinion that we waste food in America because you asked me to defend myself against accusations that I don't agree third world countries shoulds starve. I don't agree Golden Rice is a solution, that is my opinion, which I backed up with fact. I did research, I am not a nutrition major, but I am interested in what we eat, how its grown, and how that effects the global economy. This was a five point assignment that I had a strong opinion on and even though the text didn't talk about corporations, its a text that is used to teach and needs to be objective and won't get into the TRUTH behind corporations that lie to the consumer.
