I remember when my mum would panic about my clothes smelling of curry, when my umma would close the kitchen door for fear of curry wafting through the house. When I got made fun of at school, the 'stink' of curry would be mentioned. You know what? The scent of curry makes my soul happy; it's home and comfort. When I open a pot on my umma's masala, I get history and love. If curry is my perfume, I wear it with pride.
