Uh, Thinkin about my hair today, as odd as that sounds. It used to be super thick, about as thick as my little sister's hair was, but... Everything's changed since the hospital shit. My hair still falls out so easily, sometimes in clumps still. I miss when it was thick and actually made me feel like me.
I hate new chats with new people because ive been in a chat for a total of 10 minytes and maybe sent 10 texts and i already feel annoying as fuck and i just want to perish, tbh

high school sucks
I've been thinking about high school lately - mainly about how much it sucked and how great university is in comparison. I think many of my fellow Science Scholars would agree, and I think there are a few reasons why. Firstly, if you've moved out of home (or even if you haven't), you've got a whole lot more independence. In addition to this independence, you have a whole lot of "free time" where you're not tied up at school. You might only have one hour of class time per day (my Friday is the best day of the week). However, the flip side of this is because you're not forced into contact with people every day, you don't form the same kind of friendships that you do in high school. Making friends is pretty easy if you are in the halls (hello, you live with each other), if you have a community (Māori/Pasifika students can hang out in the Whare or the Fale, and queer students can hang out in Queerspace), or but apart from that it can be a real challenge. Science Scholars is excellent for this. We have a small cohort (40-50), we meet for two hours every week, and our sessions are discussion-heavy and full of jokes, tea, and biscuits. It's the perfect place to develop close friendships with people who think the way that you do, even if their interests are very diverse and different from yours. And all this ruminating got me thinking, really. What are some ways that you, a high school student, can a) make friends (because you probably don't have any #burn), b) get out of school (no one likes it), and c) have something cool on your CV? EXTRA-CURRICULARS! I'm thinking camp-style events, where you get to stay there a couple of nights and really get into it, instead of one-offs. There's something for everyone. The flavour of this post is science:
Science Scholars - obviously I’m going to be promoting Science Scholars, althought this is something to look forward to.
Powering Potential (and other opportunities through the Royal Society) - I went on this in its year of conception, 2015, and it was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life.
Eureka - for students looking to take their science fair experience further.
Young Enviro Leaders Forum - combo of science and politics.
Hands On at Otago (this also includes business and humanities) - I know people who have been on this and swear by it.
Chemistry Olympiad
Young Scholars - a progamme run by Auckland Uni to encourage high-achieving high schoolers into UoA.
But if you're a diverse student like me, there's also political style stuff:
UN Youth - obviously I’m going to be promoting them, I do a lot of work volunteering at their events.
Northland Youth Summit - I also went on this on its year of inception, 2013, and then again in 2015, and it was incredible! I’ve made life-long friends from this.
And business stuff!
