Soon after the demolition, Balbir along with another kar sevak (Hindu volunteers who demolished mosque) Yogendra Pal went into deep introspection. Six months later, they converted to Islam. Twenty-eight years later, Singh rechristened as Mohammed Amir, has already built 90 mosques. He had vowed to build 100 mosques to atone his participation in the demolition. 33 Years After Babri Masjid: How One Demolition Cleared the Path for Hindutva Rule

On 6 December 1992, the Babri Masjid was demolished in broad daylight as the state stood by. The violence that followed killed thousands, mostly Muslims, and permanently altered India’s political and moral landscape.

Thirty-three years later, the anniversary passes quietly — not because justice was done, but because silence has become normal. Media coverage focuses on “peaceful conditions” and security drills, while the deeper questions about impunity, hate, and constitutional failure fade from public memory.

Babri was not just the destruction of a mosque. It was a turning point that showed how majoritarian mobilisation could override law, accountability, and human dignity — and still be rewarded with power. From that moment, the path was cleared for the normalisation of Hindu majoritarianism, the erosion of secularism, and the targeting of minorities under the language of nationalism and order.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has hit back hard at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments at election rallies about Ram Mandir and the Congress intention .

Speaking in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone and Dhar districts, Modi countered the Congress allegations that the slogan of “400 paar” was aimed at abolishing the Constitution. “The Congress is spreading lies… Don’t they know that from 2019 to 2024… the NDA-plus alliance already had the support of around 400 seats… Modi needs 400 seats so the Congress cannot bring back Article 370 in Kashmir and create trouble. Modi needs 400 seats so the Congress cannot put the Babri lock on the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,” he said in Dhar.

Reacting to PM Modi’s remark , Priyanka Gandhi Vadra quoted by ANI said , “This is a blatant lie. Congress has said again and again that everyone will respect the decision (of the Supreme Court) and that is what we have done and will continue to do.”
