    “what is troubling you, my dear??” not that jervis already had a bit of an idea on what could be concerning babs as of late. truthfully the visit to see his friend had a purpose behind it, his curiosity as to whether his plan was starting to form as efficiently as he’d thought it out. not that she needed to know about any of that, not really. soon enough babs would fall under his spell just like everyone eventually did and jervis would have everything he desired. his beloved sister would be returned to him. “you don’t really seem yourself today is all. i worry.” // @babsxkean​

“Hey, peace,” David said, raising his hands a little in a parody of surrender. The wooden bead bracelets on his wrists clacked together, and he lowered his hands again. “It was just an offer.” He wasn’t used to being rebuffed like that -- he spent most of his time with the family, who were all desperate to spend time with him. “My name’s David,” he said calmly, trying to bring her down from her defensive head space. “I just wanted some company, but if you don’t want to, I get it. I am a stranger, after all.”

“ i won’t hate you. i know you think that’s what you deserve but it’s not. ”

“That’s not what I deserve...” He said, sounding confused. “I deserve friendship and love. And no one wants to give that to me. No one but you.” He said, getting up from where he was seated and making his way to her. He gripped her hand in his own very suddenly and very seriously. “Did I do something to make you think that I want you to hate me?” He questioned, searching his own mind for answers but nothing came up. “Please don’t hate me, you’re one of the few that I have left.”

“Yeah. We make quite the team, huh?” The two of them and Lian made up the weaker part of the New Titans but Lian could kick Jordan’s ass if she wanted to and he didn’t doubt that she could beat up Peter too. Lian was just so capable. He couldn’t help but feel like they were bonded over both being at the bottom of the pack. Not that anyone told him that. They didn’t need to. “I’ll always look after you.” He found himself saying as he wrapped a bandage over one of Peter’s small wounds.

“I don’t know how to be something you miss.”

How was he supposed to answer that? He couldn’t really leave either. He wouldn’t be caught dead drinking and driving. Especially not when the memory of that car crash stuck to him like it did. Suddenly he found himself having some regrets. Maybe he shouldn’t have stayed for drinks after he dropped off Peter. He knew what he was getting himself into. Their relationship was still complicated. He took another sip of his wine- Barbara’s choice in drinks for the night but he didn’t mind. “I do miss you, you know. Some nights are just easier than others.” He admitted. “But we’re better off apart. You deserve someone who can give you all of them. I haven’t been able to for a long time now.”
