Their first word was Yeah. He says it so often that they just start mimicking him. He loves it. It makes him so happy to see them big smile, arms in the air, yelling ‘Yeah’. It becomes a little game for them. He’ll yell it and they’ll yell it after him. They’re each other’s hype man.

The kid’s first toy was a xylophone. Lucio bought one and immediately regretted it. That didn’t stop him from encouraging them tho. They may be just mindlessly beating on the keys but it’s part of the art.

The kid is a fussy baby when it came to naps. They didn’t like to sleep unless he was holding them and humming. He used to dance around the house with them in his arms and just hum a soft tune until they were asleep.

The kid is constantly slaying the game. They’ve got the best fashion sense ever. All the ladies at day care love them. They’re just as charming and polite as their father and twice as cute. They’re killing the game.

Lucio couldn’t always be home because of work so he bought the kid toys and books with his voice programmed into it to keep them company. The teddy bear that hummed at night was their favorite but nothing beat having Lucio home instead.

He’s their hero. They want to be just like him when they grow up. For halloween one year, they grab his skates and one of his shirts and go around town dressed as him. Lucio feels a rush of pride every time someone asks who the kid is and they point to him. He totally didn’t cry when they told him what they wanted to be for halloween.

He’s the Tries to be Cool Dad™. He’s got dad jokes for days. Don’t give him the opportunity. He’s ‘hip’ to the latest trend but you’ll still be cringing while he talks about it. The ‘Grab your shoes, you’re going to be late to the soccer game’ kind of dad. Are you picturing a fanny pack? You should be because he’s got one and it’s covered in frogs and full of bandaids.

He tries to stay invested in his kid’s life. His career keeps him away some times but he spends most of their childhood trying to instill confidence into them and teach them that they can be whatever they want to be. When they grow up kind, confident, and strong like their father, he considers it a job well done.

When they’re finally grown and off following their own dreams, Lucio stays in touch as much as he can. They’ve always been close and no amount of distance is going to change that. But there are some days when he notices old teddy bears and finds a baby shoe in the attic that he misses having them around. He’s got empty nest syndrome. Can you blame him? The man has a lot of love to give.
