i would LOVE a fic about when sid caught mack and reader making out and that’s how he found out about their relationship
macklin celebrini and crosby!reader getting caught wc: 3.5k sort of a prequel to this, but can be read as a standalone warning: suggestive content below!
you and macklin haven't been able to be together in person in forever.
ever since world championships ended, you've racked your brain trying to think of an excuse for you to fly out to san jose, and he's always too busy to fly to pittsburgh. you're on the phone with him pretty much 24/7, texting, calling, facetiming. you're like 90% sure your dad knows that you have a boyfriend, but he hasn't figured out who it is yet.
which is exactly what you and macklin want. your dad has always been a little bit... protective over you, and macklin is absolutely terrified of him.
as much as you've tried to soothe his worries, you know that it's not an entirely unreasonable worry. your dad has always been adamant that no boy will ever be good enough for you. he's tried, but he always ends up scaring your boyfriends away.
that's usually fine, because you're never too attached to the guys that you date. plus, he always manages to swoop in and scare them off right as you're getting sick of them, too, so you use your dad as an excuse to break up with guys.
but you don't want that to happen with macklin. you've never felt this way before, and the idea of your dad scaring him off is... you don't even want to think about it.
even though you and macklin have brainstormed every possible way to see each other, nothing's worked out.
it's finally happening, though. the sharks are playing the penguins in pittsburgh this weekend, and you and macklin have agreed that you'll do anything to see each other away from the rink, where you can hold each other without the worry about your dad seeing you.
the sharks arrive in pittsburgh the day before the game, which gives the two of you time.
right as you're texting, trying to coordinate and figure out where the best place to meet up is, your dad knocks on your door.
"come in!" you call, quickly turning off your phone and dropping it on the bed next to you as casually as possible, hoping your dad doesn't decide today is the day for questions.
"hey, i'm gonna go out to lunch with some of the guys. just spend some time together off the ice, y'know?" he leans against your doorframe, wearing an Under Armor t-shirt and jeans, a ball cap pulled over his eyes. It's the same "disguise" he's been wearing since you were a kid, and even though you always insist it's not doing anything, he rarely gets recognized when he's wearing it. "one of the guys is bringing his kids 'cause his wife is busy. you wanna come?"
you bite your bottom lip nervously. you probably should go. you love spending time with your dad and his teammates, especially if one of them is bringing his kids, which means you get little kid cuddles.
this is the perfect opportunity for you and macklin, though.
and it's that thought that ultimately causes you to say, "um, i think i'm good. kinda just want a relaxed day at home, you know?"
your dad nods in understanding, not a hint of suspicion anywhere on his face, thankfully.
"sounds good. text me if you need anything, okay?" he raps his knuckles on your door a few times, then leaves, closing it behind him.
you nearly squeal in excitement as soon as your dad is gone. you're finally going to get to see macklin, spend time with him by yourselves.
you quickly send him a text, and then rush to your closet to find a cute outfit.
macklin arrives an hour and a half later. your dad is gone, definitely on the way to the restaurant (thank you, life360), and you're wearing a cute but simple outfit: a white, short-sleeved babydoll top and dark wash jeans, complete with your usual jewelry stack, your feet covered in soft white socks. cute, but not like you tried too hard, casual.
when he knocks, you're waiting next to the door, opening it instantly. you throw your arms around his neck, practically catapulting yourself into his hold. he wraps his arms around your waist and buries himself in your neck, inhaling deeply, squeezing you tight.
"you're here!" you say, threading your fingers through his light brown hair, relishing in the softness of it. "i can't believe it, you're actually here!"
"i know," he says into your skin, pressing kisses to the spot where your neck meets your shoulders. "oh my god, this is amazing,"
the two of you stay like that for a minute, holding each other in the doorway of your home, before you remember that your dad is very close friends with the gossipy old lady next door, and she'll definitely rat you out if she sees you.
so you pull away, cupping mack's soft face in your hands. "do you wanna... come up to my room?"
he nods, and moves farther into the house. you close the door behind him, before taking his hand and leading him up the stairs.
when macklin walks through the threshold of your doorway, you silently thank your past self for cleaning up a bit when he was on his way. he's quiet for a few seconds, looking around, taking in his surroundings.
you sit down on your bed, patting the spot next to you. macklin sits down, too, and you reach over, entangling your hands.
"how have you been?" you ask softly, resting your cheek on your shoulder.
macklin plays with the rings on your finger. "pretty good, i guess. stressful season, but it's okay,"
you frown, scooting closer to him. "i'm sorry. i wish i could... be there with you. all the time,"
"me too," mack's eyes flit down to your lips, then back to your eyes.
you give him a soft smile, and lean in.
kissing macklin is always a wonderful experience. he kisses like you're air, and he's suffocating. he kisses with such adoration, such intensity and love behind each movement, that you get a little light-headed.
you love kissing mack. you have since your first kiss. but kissing him after not seeing him in person for four months straight... it's a completely different experience.
within seconds, you're gasping into his mouth. he slips his tongue in, massaging yours with his, pulling you closer to him, as if he can't bear to be any farther away from you. both of your eyes slip closed, and you wrap your arms around his neck, deepening the kiss.
mack shivers a bit, his hands falling at your hips, squeezing as your noses bump. one of your hands starts travelling down his body, tracing the lines of his muscles through his thin t-shirt, before finally finding its destination at the crotch of his jeans.
he pulls away, resting his forehead against yours, letting out a shaky breath. "baby..." he murmurs.
"what?" you ask innocently. you cup him through the rough fabric, gripping him lightly, and mack's body seizes, a little whimper escaping him. "i'll stop if you ask me to," you say into his ear, pressing a kiss to his temple.
he rests his forehead on your shoulder as you continue stroking him through his pants, his jeans getting tighter by the second. his hands are still harsh on your hips, squeezing so tight you wouldn't be surprised to find marks there tomorrow, which you would greatly welcome.
after a few seconds of this, he lifts his head back up and attacks your lips with his. you kiss back with the same intensity, and allow him to maneuver you to be laying down on your bed, him hovering over you.
he's grinding into your thigh, rutting desperately, breathing hard. his chest is heaving, and when you pull back a bit to admire him, you see that his face is bright red, cheeks splotchy, sweat beading on his forehead.
"you're so pretty, mack," you say, tangling one of your hands in his hair. "i love seeing you like this,"
he groans, and drops his face into your neck, panting. "i m-missed you so much," he whimpers. he wraps his arms around your waist and tugs you closer. "th-thought about you every day,"
you smile, lovingly rubbing your thumb against his blushing cheek. "oh mackie, i think about you everyday, too,"
he continues sputtering love-filled nonsense into your neck, rutting against your body. after a while, you grasp his hair and use it to pull him back to your lips, slipping your tongue into his mouth with ease.
you both moan into the kiss, and you reach down, grasping him through denim, and he ruts into your palm.
the two of you are so caught up in each other, so excited to be together again, so eager to let out all of the tension and neediness that's been building for months into each other, that you don't hear the garage door open and close downstairs.
sid forgot his wallet. and apple pay isn't set up on his new phone, so he had to turn around to come back and get it. there's no rush or anything today, just him and his buds hanging out, so there was no pressure in having to turn around and get it.
when he turned onto his street, he noticed something. a truck parked in front of his house. he thought it was weird, but didn't think too much of it, probably just a neighbor having company who accidentally parked in front of his house instead of the neighbor's. it's happened before, and it's not a big deal.
he pulled into the garage and quickly ran inside, finding his wallet right where he left it on the counter, rolling his eyes at himself. you always tease him for being like cinderella, leaving things wherever he goes. unfortunately, you're right, even though he vehemently denies it.
he goes back to the door leading into the garage, about to leave again, when he thinks of you.
you and sidney haven't had that much time together recently. and even though you said you wanted a relaxing day at home... he still wants to spend time with you.
so he starts up the stairs, determined to convince you to come hangout with him and his teammates. you've always been his buddy, who he brings along to every outing, and that's getting less and less common the older you get. you're eighteen now, and he misses when you were little.
that's what spurs him up the stairs, determination in every footstep.
except, when he reaches your door, something is... off. there's sounds coming from inside your room that might be coming from your tv, but....
he knocks. no answer.
brow furrowed, sidney crosby opens the door to his daughter's bedroom with a bang.
of all the things that he expected to see when he opened the door to your room, sid absolutely did not think he would see macklin celebrini, the young, star player of the san jose sharks, the team he's playing against tomorrow eating his daughter's face off.
"dad!" you screech. macklin flies off you in an instant, scuttling to the other end of your bed. "oh my god!"
your dad's eyes are narrowed, looking at macklin, and then you, and then at macklin again.
fuck, you think, covering your face in embarrassment. when you chance a look at macklin, you see that his face is redder than a tomato, his hands awkwardly covering his crotch. you sigh and toss him one of your floral throw pillows, which he gratefully places over his lap, gulping.
"what... is happening?" your dad asks, crossing his arms, glaring at macklin.
you stand up, holding your hands out to your dad in a placating gesture. "dad, stay calm,"
"stay calm?" he demands, looking at you like you're crazy. "are you kidding? i forget my wallet at home, and come back to macklin celebrini making out with my daughter!"
the expression on your dad's face tells you that he's in disbelief at the situation. the wry laugh he lets out a few seconds later confirms your suspicion.
"i... um," you look back at macklin, who looks terrified and helpless, clutching the throw pillow in his lap like a lifeline. "okay. can we... can we go downstairs and talk?"
your dad nods wordlessly, then turns and leaves. a few seconds later, you hear him stomping down the stairs.
you turn to macklin. "stay here. i'll calm him down, and then when you're not..." you gesture to the throw pillow. "then you can come downstairs and talk to him, too,"
macklin nods, eyes clenched shut, clearly trying to pretend anything other than this is happening.
you meet your dad in the living room. he's sitting on the couch, arms crossed again, looking expectantly at the stairs. when he sees you're alone, he says, "where is he? i want to talk to him, too,"
you come to sit on the armchair across from the couch. "no, we're gonna talk first. you need to calm down,"
"i am calm!" your dad insists, despite very clearly being the opposite of calm. "i just would love to have more information on why macklin celebrini was feeling you up in your bed!"
you sigh, covering your face with your hands. you and macklin had had lots of discussions on when you were going to tell your dad, more importantly how. this was definitely not what you were expecting, but there was no coming back from it now.
"dad... i know that this is... shocking," your dad interrupts with a scoff. you glare at him and continue, "but... i don't want you to be mad. this isn't just some... hookup, or something like that. mack and i have been together for a while now, and we... we love each other. we haven't seen each other in person in months, and we just got a little bit carried away,"
"you've been together for months?" your dad's eyes look like they're going to bug out of his head. he stares at you for a few seconds, slack-jawed. then his expression changes to something else, something... sadder. "why didn't you tell me?"
you hesitate, unsure how truthful to be. "i guess we were just... worried about your reaction. you've always been really protective over me, and i wasn't sure how you would feel about me dating an nhl player. plus, mack is kind of terrified of you,"
one thing that your dad had always told you growing up was to never date anyone who plays in the nhl. he's met lots of great players that are horrible people, never there for their wives and families, never dependable or reliable. yes, sidney was a great dad to you, but there was a lot of sacrifice, both on the ice and from you. he always encouraged you to find someone as far away from hockey as possible to love.
you tried, really. it just didn't work out that way.
sidney sighs. "i guess... i guess that's understandable. i didn't exactly react the best, did i?" he laughs a little, and you laugh, too. "in my defense, though, i think i would've reacted that way if i caught you making out with anyone, not just macklin,"
you nod. "that's fair,"
"i'm sorry i made you feel like you couldn't tell me," your dad apologizes. "i... i just want the best for you, baby. i always have. i haven't seen the two of you together, very much..." he shudders, thinking about what he walked in on a few seconds ago. "but, i'm willing to give him a chance.
you smile, and move to the couch. your dad wraps you in a hug, and you lay your head on his chest, just like you did when you were a little kid. "thanks, dad," you say, and he presses a kiss to the top of your head.
"of course, kiddo," your dad said, squeezing you tight in his hug.
right at that moment, the sound of macklin coming down the stairs breaks you and your dad from your moment. his cheeks are still bright pink, but he's clearly tried to put himself together a bit more. his hair looks like he's combed through it with his fingers, he's fixed his shirt, and he's no longer hard. at least, not visibly.
"mr. crosby..." macklin starts hesitantly, coming to stand in front of you and your dad. "i wanted to apologize for-"
"sid," your dad corrects with a tired sigh. "just because you're fooling around with my daughter doesn't mean i want to be mr. crosby all of a sudden,"
you and macklin both cringe at your dad's choice of words.
"okay, um... sid, i wanted to apologize for how you found me and your daughter," he's standing so straight you worry a puff of air will knock him over. "but i wanted you to know that we're not just... um, fooling around, but we're together. and i love her."
your dad sighs, and stands up. you have the urge to stop him, but you know where this is going, and figure that your dad just has to get it out of his system.
macklin is taller than your dad, but right now, it doesn't seem that way. your dad straightens himself, and looks directly into your boyfriend's eyes as he says, "i'm allowing this to happen. but don't let your guard down, because if you dare do anything to make my baby girl upset? i'll be right there in an instant, and you'll regret every decision you've ever made,"
mack is practically shaking under your dad's glare, but he manages to gulp out a, "yes sir,"
your dad smiles, and places one of his big hands on your boyfriend's shoulder. he smiles and says, "we're gonna beat your asses tomorrow. you know that, right?"
macklin nods.
"dad, stop," you stand up, sighing. "i think he gets it,"
your dad takes a step back and nods, smiling. "well, i have to get back to lunch. i'm going to... leave the two of you here, i guess. when i get back, everybody better be fully clothed and acting like little saints. yes?"
"yes," you and macklin both say in unison. you roll your eyes, which your dad responds to with a wink.
your dad leaves pretty quick after that, shouting a goodbye and a reminder to stay pure over his shoulder as he enters the garage. as soon as the garage door closes and your dad's driven away, macklin's entire body relaxes, and he lets out a long breath.
you pull him into your arms, rubbing his back. "you did great babe," you tell him.
"that was the most stressful fifteen minutes of my life," he sputters out. "oh my god, i cannot believe my childhood hockey idol just caught me humping his daughter!"
you try and stifle a giggle, but fail miserably. macklin lifts his head from your shoulder and glares at you, looking totally betrayed.
"i'm sorry! but you have to admit, that was funny," you say, smiling wide.
"no it was not!" macklin crosses his arms, huffing. "that was humiliating, and very scary,"
"oh come on, my dad's not that scary,"
"yes he is! i thought he was gonna kill me!" macklin's voice is high and squeaky now, which only serves to make you laugh harder. "stop laughing!"
"i'm sorry!" you exclaim.
you apologize by pulling macklin in by his neck and pressing a loving kiss to his lips. he smiles, wrapping his arms around your waist. he hesitates when you try and deepen the kiss, though.
when you let out a whine and try again, macklin pulls away fully. "nope, sorry. not after what just happened,"
you roll your eyes. you love your dad, but he ruins everything sometimes.
the penguins beat the sharks horribly. for some reason, san jose sharks player macklin celebrini seems to be off his game. anytime he comes near sidney crosby, he hesitates, always just long enough for crosby to steal the puck and skate in the direction of the sharks' goal.
no one can figure out what's going on with macklin, but sidney crosby's daughter, sitting in the stands with her best friend watching the game, knows exactly what's going on.
every time your dad gets close to mack, you can see them exchange a few words, and you have no doubt you're their topic of conversation.
"i can't believe you're the reason macklin celebrini is playing bad tonight," your best friend teases.
you want to deny it, but unfortunately, she's right.
thankfully, you haven't gone public with your relationship yet. still, this is going to be an interesting season.
a/n: thank you so much for requesting! this was really fun to write, although i suck at writing kiss scenes so i apologize ): i love crosby!reader! also, i apologize this was a BEEFY fic, but i love it so idc
