Happy birthday to one of my favorite sims to ever exist in any of my saves: Caeley fucking Flynn.

She’s gonna be a kick-ass young adult and I’m so excited to see what chaos she’s gonna be up to in the years to come.

One year ago today I posted my first post for the Build-a-City Challenge. Since then it’s been 2,126 posts of absolute chaos. I couldn’t have imagined myself getting so invested in a single challenge... Honestly, this is the longest time I’ve ever played in a save file and it’s all because of you guys.

To celebrate 365 days of playing the same save file, come with me as we go through a few of my favorite posts and reminisce over all of the things that happened! Some of you that have been following me for a while may remember... others may be seeing these screenshots for the first time! Either way, I think it’ll be fun!

We’re starting off with the very beginning of the challenge. Do you remember the struggle? Everyone was passing out everywhere, they were stinky and fighting for the one pee bush, and there was no roof to protect them from the elements... it was crazy! 

From a single household and 6 sims to 7 households and 32 sims... we’ve definitely come a long way!

How are they the same sims? My babies are all grown up!

So I checked the date just for fun... Apparently the first screenshot was taken on June 30th, 2021. The second was taken on June 29th, 2022. 

I was ONE day off from unknowingly taking the screenshots exactly one year apart. 😲

Now that Rusty and Hailey’s last baby has grown up into a child, I thought I’d compare everyone’s childhood photos!

Who do you think Dora looks the most like? I don’t know if it’s the hair color, but I’m leaning toward Baze!

Talents & Attraction Update!

I’ll be doing things a bit different from now on...

I removed the Give Me Some Talent Mod as well as WonderfulWhims from my game. They’re amazing mods and do add so much to people’s gameplay, but for my level of micromanaging I just wasn’t satisfied with them anymore. 

Instead I will be using a randomizer in my spreadsheet to select my sims’ attraction preferences as well as a talent, which they will receive when they turn into teens. It won’t actually do anything in-game but I can use it for storytelling purposes. I’ll be able to pair up sims using the attraction system I created and I will know what skill my sims should focus on more and what career they might be interested in.

For the talents I just put every single skill through a randomizer, but if you’d like to try my chemistry/attraction randomizer I do have it available. It will randomly select a sexuality for your sim, a hair color & eye color preference, a bonus physical attribute preference and a preferred personality trait.

We’ll see if I like this better. If not I may add the mods back in.

In case you’re curious, this is a page from my spreadsheet where I keep track of the current rotation.

This particular rotation started on January 21st and ended on May 20th. It took me 4 months to play 7 households. You can definitely see which rounds flew by and where I took extended breaks. 

Let’s aim for less than four months for the next rotation, yeah?
