Following up...
A quick follow up to yesterday's Bach reviews, particularly regarding the Bach Cantatas Box - it looks like an oversight that we have neglected to include the original recordings from The Bach Guild, Jonathan Sternberg's recordings of 5 of Bach's cantatas. (For those detail oriented, the LPs are BG 501, 502 and 503.) They have been released on CD, but we have not included them in our Bach Guild releases. This has been because not all of our customers are interested in historical accuracy or historic performances. We are very subject to the edicts of our very very substantial and highly supportive partner, Amazon.com, and we have found that in reissuing titles from the deep vaults of the 1950s, Amazon receives complaints from customers about the audio quality of these files. Unlike physical product, it's very hard to put a "Warning: Mono Recordings Made in 1949/1950" on a digital file and have it understood. We have had items removed from Amazon because of poor sound quality issues, and we try and avoid this where possible. But we will try and find a way to get these recordings to our customers somehow.
