#Chaplain George W. Prioleau was one of the few #buffalosoldiers commissioned as officers within the US Army . He attended #wilberforceuniversity in #ohio , graduating with a #bachelorsindivinity in 1884. #presidentgrovercleveland appointed him as #chaplain of the U.S. Army #9thcavalryregiment at the rank of #captain .He was stationed at various camps in the Philippines during the #spanishamericanwar & from 1907 to 1909, crossed the Pacific Ocean six times. He served with the 9th Cavalry for nearly 21 years. In 1915, he was transferred to the #10thcavalryregiment & then to the 25th Cavalry, where he was promoted to Major . He retired in 1920 and moved to Los Angeles California .
