Donna Jean Godchaux, born on August 22, 1947, in Alabama, began her music career as a session singer. She joined the Grateful Dead in 1972, contributing significantly to their sound until 1979. Afterward, she formed her own bands and received notable accolades, including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. She passed away on November 2, 2025.
