Mourning
Today I mourn the loss of my loving husband, Thomas. With strength from God, I will find the power within me to continue his legacy and raise our children to emulate the intelligence and determination he demonstrated throughout his life. His complications were severe, and the barber-surgeon was unable to remedy his ailments. As per usual, my eldest son was reading from the Bible, as my husband and I have educated all of our children with our holy book. However, in this time of grievance, he shared this psalm with me: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me” (John 14:1). With that, I trust a place has been prepared for him in Heaven. On the positive side, mama’s gonna take over some property! I only fear that with my increasing age and status, I’ll be targeted for my success and coined as a witch!
