"They say they’re neither polished nor typical. If you can’t handle that, quit reading. Backslashes and Bad Ideas are coming at ya hot from Staten Island with a brand new 7 inch called Sad Is The New Black on Giant MKT. To back it up they’re heading out on tour at the end of July, and promise a memorable experience for fans. The band have busted their asses working on new material, tightening up their set list, and dialing in the show. Here’s bassist Rob Castiglione on how they’ve prepared: “It's mostly been making sure our music and visual live performance is as tight as possible.” “We want to show people who have seen us for either the first or tenth time that we're gonna keep pushing forward, improving and bringing a passionate and interactive performance night in and night out,” he said. Yeah, they’re dropping some new stuff, but frontman Nick DePalo points out that they’re staying true to their roots and what has brought them this far. “What we wrote together ended up being a more dynamic, intricate, and possibly heavier sound but one that's still our own,” Nick said. “We haven't reinvented ourselves like a lot of artists do when they grow, we just took that natural next step in our opinion.” He also pointed out that they’ve got something for everyone in their 7”. Longtime fans and new listeners will get a taste of everything the band excels at in this record. That being their tried and true brand of passionate, melodic, intricate, and heartfelt emo and pop punk. You’ll be able to pre-order the 7 inch at Giant MKT on August 13. The album drops September 9.
