How to Backup Shopify theme
Source: How to Backup Shopify theme
Step 1: Navigate to the Theme page
Click the Online Store menu option in the Shopify admin's left toolbar to get started. After that, you would be taken directly to the Theme page. The default theme is Debut, and as you can see from the image on the main themes page, you can also locate this tab towards the bottom of the "Themes" sub-menu. Themes are available here in both free and premium versions, depending on your needs.
Step 2: Make a copy of the current theme
To find out what you can do, click the Actions button. So that the primary website doesn't change, we want to maintain the present theme in this instance. Select Duplicate from the drop-down option. The most recent Shopify theme will be provided to you. It's important to keep in mind that your site can only have 20 themes, so you might need to delete any that you haven't utilized.
Step 3: Rename the theme copy
Your theme copy will then have two links next to it: Action and Customization. Choose Rename under Actions in the drop-down menu.
This could be frustrating because you won't want to utilize the copy as a "Copy of..." anymore. We suggest a naming rule that will also benefit potential backups. Here, we can utilize the theme's name in the format of a date (YYYY-MM-DD). If not, you are free to use any format you like.
