This is such a sweet story- A 6 yr. old who was undergoing chemo, always wanted a tiny house in the back yard. So, to distract him during the treatments, his mom decided to engage him in building one. While in the hospital, they started to scour the internet for ideas.
Local people came together to help, using some locally sourced materials from Oregon, where they live.
One of the must-have’s on her son’s list was a Dutch door, so this pine one was chosen.
The Hickory cabinets were a bargain b/c they had some blemishes, and a copper sink was a splurge for it’s anti-microbial properties- especially good for someone whose immune system is compromised.
The table & chairs were hand-carved by a local artisan. Mom envisions many hours playing board games here.
Mom wanted a 2nd fl. with a full staircase. All the handmade furniture and this bear were done by the same wood carver.
And, here’s the king sized bed where mom pictures her 2 sons lying together, looking at the stars thru the skylight. Love this story.
