Hey birdblr and livestock people, do broad-breasted white turkeys ever get markings or does that disqualify them from being BBW?
Our poults were sold as heritage but I’m paranoid about them being BBW’s because my dad got them at Tractor Supply, which has a shitty track record with correctly labelling their birds.
Our little tom is about 4 weeks old now and has this dark mark on one of his wing feathers since last week. Marking picture is below as well as a full shot of the little dude (though the mark is not visible in the full shot due to the angle). At first I thought it was actually a dirty spot, but no, it’s part of the feather. No other markings currently. The other one, which might be female, doesn’t have any markings (the reason we think this one is male is because he’s strutting, lol).
