Joshua Redman and The Bad Plus Perform at the Outpost in December

Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Geoffrey Scovil leverages his background as a public defender and more than 15 years in private practice to represent clients in matters of habeas corpus law. In addition to operating his Albuquerque practice, Geoffrey Scovil plays a key role in supporting the Outpost Performing Space, a local nonprofit jazz venue. Founded in 1988, Outpost Productions hosts more than 100 shows annually and offers a wide range of classes and programs for musicians and performers young and old. The Outpost Performing Space, located in the University District of Albuquerque, provides a family-friendly environment for community members to enjoy live music. The Outpost Performing Space will welcome saxophonist Joshua Redman and jazz trio The Bad Plus to the stage December 5-6, 2015. The event is sponsored by K2MD, Scovil, and several other community members. Doors open at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 6 p.m. Sunday, and tickets range in price from $30 to $75. Bad Plus doing their interpretation of my favorite episode of Igor Stravinsky’s ballet Le Sacre du printemps. The pulling rhythm in this orchestral movement was what always made it more attractive to me than the others. Bad Plus’s take is super original and cinematic in its own rank. Instead of Russian circle dancers, I see a stalking scene at a lonely bay on a quiet night.
