#bad vets

Mellie went back to the vet for her ear on Monday night, but this time I requested a different doctor from the one who failed to help her twice over the past year and a half. First we waited in the car for over half an hour because their receptionist is incompetent. Then they said she has moderate to severe yuckiness in there, likely from ear mites. They didn't see any live mites (they said maybe one dead one) but they did find a full blown bacterial infection AND yeast infection. Poor munchkin had to have three swabs for analysis and then a super deep ear cleaning. Her ear was purple when we left and still red the next day. And she was so scared she wouldn't even shake her head when they squirted the cleaner/medicine in there. And then they trimmed her claws. Poor munchkin.

She got wet food with her dinner that night and seemed pretty happy right after.

I'd already been cleaning her ear a couple times a week recently and she's started to learn that it helps a little. But she still HATES it and will hide from me for days after. The kinds of deep cleanings I've had to do lately take about 20 minutes each time. But she's so good about it, poor scared munchkin.

So they gave her Revolution to kill the mites and now I have to clean/medicate it every other day for a week and then hopefully just once a week as needed.

I really hope we finally kick this thing for her. She's been suffering for so long.

Pufla is still doing great. I can’t believe she’s around 1.5 years old already. Where does the time go? Her brother Crash was here for a week since I am the only one who knows how to give meds orally via a syringe to a hamster.  I am also switching vets since I was extremely unhappy with the one I was going to for years. I thought he was the only one who treats hamsters, but I’ve found a new one and am hoping he’s much better. 

The last vet visit ended up with him charging me too much and with stuff he didn’t even do. Not only that, he barely took a look at Crash. I asked him to check Crash’s back since he has a strange spot which he constantly scratches and the vet said it would heal by itself which ofc did not happen. It got even worse. I also told him that Crash had a punctured abscess and the split second he looked at it was enough for him to confirm my diagnosis. He charged me way too much for a split second look at Crash and misdiagnosis on his back. Apparently when he told me the price, his assistant/trainee rolled eyes cause she as well though it was too much, but being in a lower position could not tell him off. I gotta give her credit though cause she actually played with Crash and handled him trying to see what the problems were and seemed genuinely interested.

The first vet we visited almost killed our dog by giving us morphine after telling us she heard heart murmur?? giving us the wrong type of antibiotics and not empty the sack properly. Thankfully my mother is a nurse and recognised the name of the drug and looking it up. The second vet confirmed the clownery of the first and gave us the right pain relief and antibiotics and getting the sack emptied fully. I know theyre human and humans make mistakes but really?? Get a second opinion if you feel your pets been wronged ❤

Just thinking back to bad vets

And how they told me it was more expensive to spay an animal after they had a heat than before as a scare tactic to get me to change my mind about early spaying Lizy.

Same vet that muzzled my sweet Watson and told me my 10 week old corgi puppy was barking too much.
