pt. 3┇masterlist┇read the texts first!
It was too late to turn back now, even if part of you wanted to so that you didn’t have to feel the anxiety creeping up inside of you. Here you stood in front of Matt’s doorstep for the very first time. Music blared through the walls, loud chants and voices were also heard in the background. You knew that the party was going to be a busy one, considering you couldn’t find a place to park and had to walk all the way down the street. You could’ve just drove away, but something inside of you couldn’t justify letting Matt down when he asked you to come tonight.
He was the only reason you were here, bouncing on your heels as your heart beat rapidly in your chest. You left your phone screen open on Matt’s texts, as you await a text from him. You let him know that you were here waiting outside of his front door, but didn’t want to walk into his house full of people you didn’t know.
Just when you thought that you could possibly be standing out here forever, the front door swings open and you immediately come face to face with Matt. He was wearing all black, and he looked really fucking good. You both matched, most of your attire being black as well. His eyes were bloodshot red, from smoking too much weed probably, and he also looked buzzed. His face instantly lit up, his lips curving up into a wicked grin.
“You made it. Holy shit.” He stopped speaking to scan you up and down, taking in your appearance. You already had shown him a picture of your attire, but seeing it in person made all the difference. “You look really fucking good. Pretty librarian knows how to dress for a night out. Come on in, sweetheart.”
His words left your cheeks a crimson red and immediately heating up and your heart to skip a beat, even though it was already racing miles and miles due to being so nervous. Parties weren’t your thing, but they were definitely Matt’s and you wanted to show him that you were capable of doing this. It was only one night, what’s the worst that could happen?
You nod your head at him, flashing him a shy smile and allowing him to open the door wide enough for you to walk through. Immediately you walk into what you expected the party to be: crowded, people dancing and drunk or high off their ass, loud music blaring through the speakers, people screaming and chanting to the music, or to the intense game of beer pong that was happening in the back of the house. It was all very intimidating, something straight out of a teen movie that you’ve watched before, but here you were living in it.
Matt noticed you taking in the view around you, a soft chuckle emitting from his lips. Luckily, he was staying close to you and already didn’t seem like he wanted to leave you by yourself and you were grateful for that considering you didn’t know anyone else, but him. “Come on, I’ll show you the house and introduce you to my brothers.”
With that, he immediately grabbed your hand, his fingers interlocking with yours which caused your heart to skip a beat, your cheeks growing more warm by the second as he led you through the house, his house.
His house was beautiful, despite all of the people that were surrounding it and causing chaos around you. Matt didn’t seem to mind; he seemed chill, relaxed, in his element. A couple people fist-bumped him as he walked past and brought you into the kitchen where he walked up to a boy who looked just like him, but also looked very different in his own way at the same time. His hair was longer, his face different, but also similar at the same time. He was standing next to a petite girl with long brown hair and had her arm linked with his.
“Chris, this is the girl I have been telling you about that I met at the library.” Matt introduced Chris to you, his eyes on you the entire time which caused your cheeks to heat up even more.
“And this is Chris, my younger brother, and his, uh, what girlfriend? Madi.”
Chris had a smirk on his face and instantly extended his hand out to you which you gladly accepted and shook before pulling your hand back away, your eyes scanning from Chris to Madi, who was apparently his girlfriend.
She smiled at you and waved which helped you ease up a little bit, considering she seemed very nice. Chris stared at you, scanning you up and down before flashing you a devious smirk. “So this is the pretty librarian you won’t shut up about?”
Your cheeks turned a darker shade of red at his words, heat radiating through your body at Chris’ words. You knew Matt called you that, it slowly becoming your favorite nickname anyone has ever give you before, but to hear his own brother reference it made your body warm.
Matt smacked him in the arm, obviously embarrassed by his brother’s words. Madi stood there, shrugging her shoulders, but flashing you a warm smile which you gladly returned. “Shut up, but yes. This is her.”
You stood there with your cheeks as red as a fucking tomato, a smile plastered onto your face the entire time. “You guys look so much alike.” Was all you could manage to say, a nervous giggle emitting from your lips. You had no idea how to communicate properly sometimes, especially at parties and in front of the guy you may possibly like and his brother.
“Well I mean we are triplets.” Chris replied back with a chuckle escaping his lips. “Good job, bro.” He complimented Matt by nudging him in the shoulder.
Matt rolled his eyes playfully at his words, allowing Chris to nudge him in the arm. His fingers were still interlocked with yours which made your heart continue to flutter in your chest. “Speaking of us being triplets.. where the fuck is Nick?”
As of on cue, another variation of Matt walks through the kitchen, belting out a Sza song that was blasting through the speakers. He stops singing abruptly when he walks up to the group, his eyes immediately landing on yours. “Is this-“ He stops his words to look over at Matt, down at your fingers still tangled together before back up at you. “Librarian?”
Your cheeks flushed even more, probably permanently red at this point. You nod your head, chewing onto your bottom lip, but allowing a soft giggle to emit from your lips. “I’m guessing you’re Nick?”
He instantly nods his head, flashing you a wide grin before immediately wrapping his arms around you in a tight tug, causing you to be taken aback for a moment, but instantly wrapping your arm around him. You didn’t want to let go of Matt’s hand, that was still surprisingly laced with yours. He pulls away after a couple more seconds, practically bouncing with excitement. “This is great, Matt never talks about girls the way he has about you. He acts like a lovesick puppy it’s-“
Matt cut him off by slapping him in the head, causing Nick to gasp in surprise, looking offended and agitated. “Shut the fuck up.”
Nick’s words made your heart flutter again, another giggle leaving your lips. You flashed Nick a warming smile, your cheeks still red as ever. “Well nice to meet you Nick, and you both as well.” You turned to Chris and Madi who were passing each other a red solo cup. They smiled at you, making the smile on your face feel permanent. Hopefully they couldn’t tell how shy you were, or how tight you’ve been gripping onto Matt’s hand since the moment he grabbed it.
“The pleasure is ours.” Nick replied sweetly, a grin appearing onto his lips. Matt flashed him a death glare, and Nick put his hands up in defense.
“Did you want a drink, sweetheart?” Matt leaned into your ear to ask you, the loud music making it impossible to hear otherwise. His hot and heavy breath lingered against your ear, causing a shudder to run down your spine. The smell of alcohol and weed coming from his breath and against his skin made its way through your nostrils. It didn’t bother you, you just weren’t used to it.
You shrugged your shoulders nonchalantly as your shoulder brushes against his, leaning over to linger your lips back over to his ear to whisper back, “Sure, if you don’t mind getting it? I trust you.”
He pulled away to flash you a wide grin, nodding his head and for the first time tonight, he looked at you, really looked deep into your eyes. Your eyes got lost in his ocean blue eyes for a moment, noticing the redness in them caused by the smoking he already did, but his eyes were still as beautiful as ever. You noticed his eyes scanned down to your lips for a brief moment, his tongue slightly running across his bottom lip. After a couple seconds, you found yourself immediately pulling away your gaze when you heard a cough.
It was Chris who had a silly smirk on his face. “Me and Mads were gonna play a round of beer pong, you guys wanna join?”
“Maybe in a bit, let me make the lady a drink first.” He flashed you a playful wink as he said this to Chris who was leaning against the countertop, Madi’s head resting on his.
Matt had pulled his hand away from yours, which left your heart to ache just a little bit, even if you felt ridiculous for it. You watched as he walked over to the table to grab a couple bottles of liquor and some juice and poured it together in a cup before swirling it around to mix it together with a spoon. He walked back over to you and handed you the drink, a smile widening on his lips.
You grabbed the drink and brought it up to your nose, immediately scrunching your nose as the smell of strong alcohol wafts through your nostrils. Matt let out a soft chuckle at your reaction, moving back over to your side and brushing his shoulder up against you. “Just try it, you don’t have to finish it.”
You nod your head slowly, flashing him a small smile as he stands next to you, waiting for your reaction as you bring the cup to your lips and have a sip. Instantly, the strong taste of alcohol makes its way down your throat, and burns straight to your stomach, causing your face to twist in disgust. Maybe too much alcohol, but then again, you’re not much of an alcohol drinker anyway.
“I don’t think she likes it.” Nick replied, a laugh emitting from his throat. Honestly, you had forgotten they were there, so they all were witnessing you try the drink like it was your first time. You’ve tried alcohol before, but you were never a huge fan of it.
“I’m sorry.” You say breathlessly, the taste of alcohol now lingering on your lips. You grip the cup in your hand, a nervous laugh leaving your lips. “I’m not much of a drinker.”
Chris also laughs as he watches you, shrugging his shoulders like it was no big deal. “What about smoking? Matt got you to hit a blunt yet?”
Matt looked like he was about to slap Chris too like he did to Nick based on the death glare he shot at him. “She doesn’t need to do any of that shit if she doesn’t want to.”
You felt a sense of protectiveness when Matt spoke for you, it almost made you giggle out loud. Heat pooled in the pit of your tummy as you looked over at Matt, your heart fluttering in your chest as the redness in your cheeks only increased by the second. “Thanks, Matt.” You thank him quietly as you lean forward to whisper it into his ear. His hand finds its way to your lower back when you lean forward into him and the simple touch of his hand makes your heart beat rapidly in your chest.
You ended up finishing the drink that Matt made you, even though it was strong and made your stomach and throat burn. You felt a little more light, more talkative, and definitely more confident. It was probably the alcohol talking, but it helped you loosen up and you were able to play a successful round of beer pong with everyone. Matt was on your team of course, and every so often, you’d feel the lightest touches from him. Whether he had his hand pressed on your back, or his shoulder brushing against yours, or when he grabbed hold of your wrist to help you aim the ball into the cup, which you managed to do successfully thanks to his help. Each and every time you felt him touch you, it made your stomach twinge with butterflies.
Your team won, and Matt pulled you into his embrace, hugging you so tightly, his hands finding your lower back and rubbing it in smooth, slow circles causing the butterflies to roam in your tummy again. There was something about Matt and his touch that drove you absolutely insane.
Maybe it was the fact that he was high, and had alcohol in his system, but you did too. Maybe it was the fact that you both were at a party and surrounded by a lot of people and that gave him more courage. Either way, you liked knowing that Matt was a bit more touchy with you and you hoped that he’d continue to put his hands on you in some way, even if that meant going somewhere alone, like preferably his bedroom.
After the third drink, you were definitely feeling it. You could feel the alcohol circulating your bloodstream and the added heat radiating against your skin. You ended up bonding really well with Madi and Nick, who ended up being partners for beer pong and getting to know more about them. Nick had the funniest stories about Matt, and Madi told you all about how her and Chris started dating. You felt as if you were an entirely different person tonight, not surrounded by books and the same day-to-a day routine. Not that you hated your job, or your life, but you had been craving some kind of fun and change of pace in your life, and making new friends and putting yourself out there seemed to be helping with that.
You lost Matt for a bit when you ended up sitting with Madi on the couch as she cried to you about her past relationship, but when you told her you had to use the bathroom and you’d be fine finding it on your own, you meant it. As much as you loved talking to her and everyone, you needed some peace and quiet and didn’t want to disturb Matt. He seemed to be off mingling with his friends and what kind of person would you be to stop him from that? It was his party after all.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long to find the bathroom that was upstairs. You told yourself to try and find Matt’s bedroom after you finished using the bathroom. You stood in front of the mirror by the sink, your palms resting against either side of it. You took in a deep breath, taking in your appearance. You had to admit, you looked completely unrecognizable in the absolute best way. Your hair was slick straight with a smokey eye makeup look that made your eyes pop, your leather jacket went perfectly well with your top and black short skirt. It made you feel good to know Matt loved your outfit, and couldn’t seem to keep his hands off you.
You allowed your mind to wander as you stood there, staring at your own reflection, your mind clouded with Matt and his strong hands. The way his hand felt against your lower back as he led you through the house, or when he helped you toss the ball into the cup and hugged you when you guys won. He made you feel so warm, comfortable, safe. You weren’t sure how he felt about you, but you were definitely falling for him.
After another minute of being lost in thought of Matt and the way he made you feel, you heard a knock on the door that made you jump and come back to your senses. You probably should cut the alcohol out for the night, considering the third drink had you feeling a little woozy. When you opened up the bathroom door, a girl stood before it and was apologetic, but seemed even more drunk than you.
When you walked out of the bathroom, you came face to face with a tall man you have never seen before. He stared at you long and hard, before his lips curved up into a slight smirk, almost corning you into the nearest wall. “You’re that librarian Matt has a thing for, aren’t you?” His voice was deep as he spoke, a darkened chuckle emitting from his lips. His eyes scanned you up and down and his entire vibe made you extremely uncomfortable.
You gulped nervously, pulling your jacket closer to your chest, feeling your heart begin to pick up speed in your chest. Should you be worried? Who even is this guy? “Um, who are you?” Was all that managed to come out of your mouth. You looked around the area, but there was nobody in sight. All that you heard was the sounds of loud conversations and the high intensity of the music downstairs that felt as if the floor was shaking from how loud it was, or maybe that was just your heart pounding in your chest.
He lets out a rumble of laughter, shaking his head as he studies your face. “Matt never mentioned me huh? What a pussy. I’m one of his friends from high school.” He flashed you a sly smirk as he suddenly came closer to you. You started to feel rather uncomfortable, your hands shaking as you held your jacket tighter to your chest in front of you. “The fucker never mentioned how fuckin’ hot you are. Damn, and you’re a librarian too? Bet you’d look sexy with a pair of glasses and your mouth around my cock.”
His words made you feel sick to your stomach and left a bad taste in your mouth. You backed up when he got closer to you, but unfortunately you were finding yourself trapped against the wall behind you. Your mouth became dry, your heart beating rapidly in your chest. “I don’t even know you, don’t you think that’s a little inappropriate to say to a stranger?”
He laughed again, immediately shaking his head, placing his arm out to press his hands against the wall next to either side of your head, officially trapped in the guy’s presence. You couldn’t get out, given he was much bigger than you and had you locked in. “I’m Aiden, you’re Matt’s new bitch. I think we got acquainted pretty well, don’t you think?”
“Absolutely not.” You replied harshly through clenched teeth, needing to stick up for yourself now. You were nervous, but also knew how to handle yourself and stick up for yourself in stressful situations. No man should ever call a woman a bitch, especially one he doesn’t even know, or creep on them like this. “I’d appreciate it if you'd get away from me and let me get back to the party. I think my friends are waiting for me.”
Aiden didn’t move. He laughed again and immediately shook his head, his eyes scanning you up and down again which made your stomach turn, and it definitely wasn’t because of the alcohol still swimming in your bloodstream. “They would’ve looked for you by now, don’t you think?”
You shake your head at his words, your stomach continuing to turn as he stares at you like he’s staring deep into your soul. You look around the area, but nobody is in sight. It’s always times like these where you wish a bystander would notice the interaction and that it wasn’t friendly and try to pull you away from it. “They thought I’d be right back, so if you would please just-“
Your words were cut off when Aiden pressed your body up against the wall, his hands still placed on either side of you as he let out a low growl, his facial expressions growing angry and cold. “You’re not going anywhere. You’re here with me now, have some respect.” He spat out, his breath lingering against your lips. The strong smell of liquor wafted through your nostrils as he stared down at you, making you feel belittled and small.
You couldn’t move, you could hardly breathe at this point. He towered over you like some vicious monster and in this moment, you wished you could scream for Matt, for somebody to help save you because you didn’t know what else to do. “Please leave me alone.” You didn’t mean for this to come out like a beg, but you couldn’t help it.
Just when he was about to open up his mouth to speak, everything happened so fast, in the blink of an eye. You hadn’t even registered what really happened, but Aiden was off you in a matter of seconds and beaten down to the ground. You lost your balance, your back sliding against the wall and your knees propped up to your chest as your vision blurred, tears streaming down your cheeks.
“Stay away from her, or I’ll fucking kill you. Understood?” You recognized that voice, you’ll recognize it anywhere.
Matt.
Then it was over. You felt a familiar hand grab yours and help you up off the floor. You blinked back a couple more tears so your vision wasn’t too blurry and immediately felt a rush of relief roll through you when you noticed he was standing in front of you. His hand interlocked with yours again and pulled you into the bedroom closest to the right, which you soon realized was his bedroom. He locked the door behind the both of you and now with the peace and quiet, it was just the both of you alone now.
All you could think to do was wrap your arms around him securely, your face finding its way to his chest and closing your eyes again. You suddenly felt safe, protected, complete. “Matt..” You tried to speak, but ended up choking back a sob, tears spilling down your cheeks.
He shook his head slowly, his hand moving up and down your back in a comforting motion, rocking you back and forth in his arms as he spoke soothing words into your ear. This calmed you down immediately and got you to stop crying as you rested your head comfortably on his chest, trying to breathe through your stuffed up nose as you held onto the back of his shirt with your fingers in a tight grip. “It’s okay, pretty. I’m here, I promise. You’re safe. It’s okay, angel. I got you now.”
You took in a couple shaky breaths before pulling away from his chest to look up at him, your makeup probably smudged underneath your eyes and against your cheeks, but you didn’t care at this very moment. He looked at you like you were the entire world that he was so lucky to have and his expressions alone made your stomach twinge with the same butterflies that began to roam in your tummy. “Matt, thank you.” Your voice was shaky, but more controlled as you placed your hands against his back, your bodies practically pressed up against one another’s.
This was possibly the closest you two have ever been. His hand moves over to cradle your face, the pad of his thumb caressing against your cheek and wipes away a couple tears that have fallen from your cheeks. You weren’t sure if it was still the alcohol swimming in your veins, or if it was the fact that Matt indeed had an effect on you, but you couldn’t help but feel your breath hitch in your throat with your heart pounding rapidly in your chest.
“You don’t have to thank me. I’m so sorry I wasn’t here earlier. Madi and Nick said you went to the bathroom, but you haven’t been back since, so I started to worry.” His words were genuine, light, sincere, and sweet.
You felt the same butterflies take permanent home in the pit of your tummy. Knowing that Matt was worried about you, and was willing to beat that guy’s ass for you made you feel something you never felt before in your entire life. You felt protected, you felt safe. “Who even was that guy?” You bite onto your bottom lip as you keep your eyes solely focused on Matt. He looked genuinely worried about you, and it made your skin tingle.
“Someone my buddy knows. I don’t deal to him, but he was there last time I hung out with my buddy. Dude is a fucking creep.” His face looked pained, agitated, downright disgusted. “I’m so sorry, beautiful.”
The nickname caused your cheeks to turn a dark shade of red as the heat radiated against your skin, shaking your head and bringing your hand to rest upon Matt’s as it stayed onto the side of your face. Matt immediately intertwined your fingers together, which made your heart want to jump out of your chest. You were beginning to really like the feeling of his hand in yours.
“Don’t apologize, but honestly, I know how you can make it better.” You were beginning to grow some confidence the more he stared at you, and the closer you two became.
He furrowed his eyebrow at you, obviously engaged and intrigued at what you were going to say next. “Oh yeah? How’s that?”
“Kiss me.” Were the only words that left your lips. You were honestly surprised that he hasn’t tried to kiss you yet since you two met, but honestly, despite Matt being more of a bad boy, it was sweet how he wanted to respect you and not push anything too soon. The more you hung around him, thought about it, talked about him, the more the feeling and urge to kiss him got stronger.
His facial expression turned surprised at first, but then his lips curved into a wicked grin, bringing both of his hands to the sides of your face, his thumbs caressing your cheekbones. “Absolutely I can do that.” Was all he said and before you knew it, his lips finally pressed against yours in a sweet, gentle kiss, your eyes immediately fluttering shut.
It was like everything you expected it to be, but also so much more. He kissed you like this was your first kiss and he wanted it to be a kiss you’d never forget. He kissed you like he’s never kissed anyone else before and wanted it to be as perfect as possible.
You moved your arms to wrap around his neck to pull him even impossibly closer, your chests pressed against each other. Your hand moved up into his hair to run your fingers through his tousled locks, your head tilting to the side to press your lips a little deeper against his.
Your lips moved together effortlessly, gentle, sweet. The butterflies erupted in your tummy, your heart was pounding rapidly in your chest. You couldn’t help but let out a soft whimper against his lips when one of his hands moved down to the base of your neck and gently ran his fingers against it before tracing his fingers along your collarbone. A shudder runs down your spine at his touch and you hear him literally moan against the kiss, satisfied with the small whimper that left your lips.
He kissed you a bit deeper, with more urgency, his hands cradling your face and his tongue slowly running against your bottom lip, causing you to gasp out against the kiss and immediately parting your lips to grant permission. His tongue instantly slid inside of your mouth and found contact with yours, rolling his tongue along yours to fight for dominance. You couldn’t help but let out another whimper, your body completely pressed up against his chest, heat radiating against your skin as your heart continued to beat rapidly in your chest.
His tongue rolled along yours before gently sucking onto it, causing your hips to press into his, another whimper leaving your lips as your fingers tangled in his messy locks.
Eventually, he broke contact from your lips, both of you desperately needing to catch your labored breathing. You opened up your eyes to see him staring down at you with a wide grin. Your cheeks were reddened and warm, your body radiating with the electric currents shooting through your veins. “Holy shit.” He breathed out, a soft chuckle emitting from his lips.
“Why didn’t we do that sooner?” You cocked an eyebrow at him, your breathing still fairly labored, a soft giggle emitting from your lips.
“You, pretty librarian, are worth waiting for. Even with things like that, which was well worth the fucking wait.” He brought your tangled hands to his chest, immediately feeling the way his heart was also beating rapidly in his chest. He leaned in a little closer again, but this time his lips brushed against your ear as he spoke with desire and protectiveness filling his tone,”And I promise you, I’m going to protect you from here on out. Got it?”
You nodded your head at his words, your body melting into his as you couldn’t erase the smile that felt almost damn near permanent on your face.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Yeah, it was safe to say you were falling in with him.
notes: thank you so much for reading! i’m sorry for the long wait. i’ve had a lot going on, but i promise i haven’t give up on this. if you have any ideas, or just wanna talk, don’t hesitate to reach out. love you guys!

pt.1 ⭑ masterlist
matt couldn’t believe you actually texted him. he knew it was you who texted him from the start, but he just had to mess with you. you were fun to mess with. he was also surprised you didn’t
want to argue when he suggested going out to dinner. does that mean you were interested too or were you just trying to get him off your back? he hoped his charm had worked and maybe it left you somewhat intrigued.
it was the next day, the day of their date and matt was fucking ecstatic. he hadn’t heard from you since the night before, but he figured he’d show up at the public library and surprise you. you did say you were working until five tonight. also, if you happened to forget that you were going on a date tonight, seeing his face would help remind you of that.
after he freshened up and made sure he looked his absolute best, he decided to clean his car out because he was planning on driving you himself. it was a date after all, and he wanted to be a gentleman. you deserved an amazing date night. the aroma of weed mixed with cologne wafted through his nostrils causing him to cough once he opened up his car door. he silently cursed to himself, wondering why he hadn’t gone to a carwash to clean it more thoroughly. he tossed some empty plastic bottles in the garbage bin and hung up a new car fragrance scent.
so, what if he wanted to impress you? he had only met you once and he was fucking hooked. he wanted to learn every single thing about you. he could just tell from the first time meeting you that you weren’t like other girls. he liked that, a lot.
his house was only 10 minutes away from the library. once he pulled into the parking lot, he looked at the time displayed in his car: 4:45pm. he was a little early, so he decided to go in and surprise you.
the library was big as hell, but this wasn’t his first rodeo. he took the same path that he did the first time. straight, to the right, up the stairs, and towards the desk. when he got closer to the desk, he froze in place when he realized you weren’t there. an older woman took the same place that you were in yesterday. his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he ran his fingers up through his tousled brunette locks. you said you were working til five today, so how could he have missed you?
matt decided to walk throughout the top floor of the library, his eyes scanning each aisle. so many books, so many study carols. he was about to give up when suddenly, there you were. you stood with a cart next to you that had several books on it, a piece of paper and pen in your hand and headphones on your head. you looked fucking adorable. you wore a pretty floral dress that stopped below the knee and a white cardigan to go over it. your hair was pinned up a bun with your curls falling loose from it, your makeup, and your lips. god, those lips. matt couldn’t stop staring and you didn’t even notice. not until he coughed loud enough that you could hear through your headphones.
you jumped immediately in surprise, pulling your headphones off your ears and placing them around your neck, your hand placed over your pounding heart as you dropped your pen and paper on your cart and your eyes widened in surprise when you realized who you were now face-to-face with. your mouth parted to speak, but no words came out. the surprised feeling soon washed away to an agitated one. “matt? what are you doing here?”
his lips immediately curved up into a sly smirk, his hands now placed into the front pockets of his jeans. he decided to wear his nice jeans, black oversized jeans with a buttoned up blue shirt. “oh silly girl, did you forget? we have a date in” he stopped speaking to pull out his phone that displayed the time. “five minutes. did you forget?”
your cheeks instantly heated up as the realization hit you that you were in fact going on a date with him tonight. did you think he’d be the one to forget? absolutely. he didn’t though. how could he forget when you’re the only thing that’s been running through his mind since the moment he laid his eyes on yours?
you didn’t forget either. of course you couldn’t forget. why else did you make sure to dress even more nice than usual? you loved dressing up, messing with makeup, and being creative with your own look and style. you weren’t sure if you had time to go home and get ready, so you decided to be ready right after you got off work. you hardly even knew the guy, why would you want to impress him? maybe it’s because he’s all you’ve been able to think about since the moment you decided to finally text him.
arguing with him over text message would’ve been useless. you could’ve messed with him, but you thought to yourself: why not? you were so used to the same routine every single day. your friends were getting on your nerves with them constantly asking you if you were going to finally put yourself out there. maybe you were getting tired of rit too. so, you thought to yourself, why not try to get out of your comfort zone just this once? it’s not every day that a cute guy approaches you at the desk at your job and charms you into giving him the wifi password.
you shook your head at his words, realizing you probably were just standing there like an actual dipshit getting lost in thought. you watched matt’s eyes scan over your appearance, and it made your cheeks even more warm. “i didn’t forget. work has just been..busy.” you bit onto your bottom lip as you stared directly at him. the more you stared, the more you realized just how attractive he truly was. he was fucking gorgeous. his blue eyes pierced into yours, his brunette locks swooping across his forehead. oh how you wish you could reach forward and run your fingers through his hair.
“well hurry up and finish your shift, pretty girl. we have a date to go on.”
you felt your cheeks flush a darker shade of red at his words, especially when he called you things like that. where on earth did this boy even come from? he was literally all you could think about, and you weren’t sure if that was a good thing or not yet.
you flashed him a small smile, picking up your paper and bringing it to your chest. “well you’re gonna have to be patient. i have five more minutes and there’s a lot of work i can get done in five minutes if a certain someone would stop distracting me.”
in all honesty, the list you were working on could be completed at any time. once a month you and the other librarians run a log through the computer that tells you if it’s been five years or longer since a certain book was checked out. if it’s been longer than five years, all those items are gathered into a list to be printed, pulled, and weeded from the collection.
he put his hands up in defense, a wicked grin forming upon his face. “sorry sorry. don’t want to distract pretty librarian and her hard work. want me to meet you outside?”
you nod your head at him, taking in his appearance once again. he definitely gave off the bad boy look that made him seem mysterious. while you were never into bad boys, there was something about him that made you think he could be soft and delicate when he wanted to be. maybe part of you wanted the thrill of the mysterious, bad boy vibe he was giving off. “yeah, meet me by the staff entrance. it’s just around the corner of the building. i’ll be there soon.”
he flashed you a small smirk as he stared directly at you, those pretty blue eyes piercing straight into yours as if it was intended to stare directly into your soul. he leaned closer towards you, despite your cart being right next to you, his lips now lingering against your ear. his breath was hot and heavy against your ear as he spoke, “don’t have me waiting too long, pretty girl.”
his words and the feeling of his lips against your ear caused a shudder to run down your spine and your heart rate to quicken. your whole body felt as if it could melt straight into him at this point. what the hell was wrong with you and what was this bad boy doing to you? he pulled away from you only slightly, your eyes locking together in an intense gaze. you looked up at him with your cheeks completely reddened and warm, the tingliness now spreading all over your body. your faces were merely inches apart, your breath getting caught in your throat. his eyes averted down to your lips as he licked over his own lips. “i..” you stammered on your words, not even sure how to reply to what he just said given his lips were so close to yours to the point that you could feel his breath mingling with yours.
“i’ll be waiting.” was all he said, his lips curved up into a wicked grin before pulling away from you and immediately turning on his heel to walk out of the aisle and towards the exit. your heart felt like it was going to bust out of your chest, your body still tingling from the sensation of his lips against your ear and your lips so dangerously close to yours.
you tried to take in a deep breath, placing your paper and pen back down onto the cart and removing your headphones from your neck. you pulled out your phone and realized it was now 5:01pm. you hadn’t finished the list you were working on, but that’s okay. it would be there for you to work on tomorrow. a soft sigh emits from your lips as you try to push past the tingliness feeling throughout your body. damn that mysterious, attractive, sexy bad boy and his fucking charm. it’s all his fault for distracting you.
you managed to push your cart back into the work room and putting your papers and headphones away onto your desk along with your work lanyard, stuffing that into your purse. with a wave goodbye to your co-workers and punching out for the day, you stepped outside the staff entrance door and was immediately met face-to-face with the bad boy himself.
“well well well, look who it is, my favorite librarian.” he was leaning against his car, a widening smirk evident on his lips with his arms crossed over his chest.
“hey, long time no see.” you replied back with a teasing smile once you approached him. you don’t know why you were suddenly so nervous. this was all you could think about since you agreed (or well didn’t put up a fight) to it last night. you felt your heart quicken once again just by staring at him. you stood there for a moment, biting onto your bottom lip as you look over at his car and then back at him. “nice car. is this your matt mobile?” you ask teasingly, a laugh falling from your own lips.
a soft laugh erupts from his throat at your joke, referring his car to the ‘batmobile’ in batman. “it sure is. gets all the ladies excited.” he wiggled his eyebrows playfully, his smirk far from disappearing off his face. “come on, let’s go.”
he opened up the car door for you which almost made your heart swoon, almost. you slid into his car and immediately got a whiff of really strong scented cologne mixed with hints of weed smoke. your nose scrunched up as you looked over at him once he slid into the driver’s seat. “so, not only do you sell, but you smoke too?”
matt looked over at you and raised his eyebrow, a soft chuckle emitting from his lips. “yeah, i mean i feel like that would be kind of pointless to sell the shit and not actually smoke it too especially if i know i have the good shit.”
he buckled up his seatbelt and motioned for you to put on yours, which you did immediately, and started the car before driving out of the parking lot. you hadn’t even asked him where he was taking you. for all you know, he could be taking you to a nearby ditch to murder you and hide your body. he didn’t seem like the type, but you can never judge a book by its cover. you nod your head at his words, trying not to get too lost in thought while you’re actively having a conversation with him. “doesn’t it ever get scary though? i mean you never know who you could be meeting up with.”
“nah.” he said nonchalantly, his eyes staying locked onto the road. you couldn’t help but stare at how he even looked good while in the driver’s seat. what the fuck is wrong with your brain right now? “my buddy is the one that supplies it. he grows it himself. he’s got a family and everything. good fuckin’ guy.”
his words were trusting, but it still doesn’t explain the worry you’d have about someone messing with him or getting involved with the wrong people who say they’re interested in purchasing but aren’t and just want to create violence. you decided to let the thoughts stay as far away from your brain as possible. he wasn’t yours and you shouldn’t have to worry about someone you don’t even know, right?
you nod your head at his words, your head leaning back against the seat. “that’s fair. i’m not much of a smoker or anything. i don’t even really drink alcohol.”
he pursed his lips together, his eyes staying focused on the road still. “funny you say that because that’s where i’m taking you.”
you blinked your eyes in a confused state as you look over at him. “what do you mean? matt, where are you taking me?” you didn’t mean to sound so worried, but you hardly even know the boy. all you knew about him was that he was charming, a sweet talker, likes a strong wifi connection, sold and smoked weed, and drove a bat mobile.
he looks over at you once he stops at the red light, his facial expression softening as he places a hand on your leg in a warming gesture, a smile appearing on his face. your eyes averted immediately down to his hand on your thigh. okay, maybe now you are swooning. he gave your leg a reassuring squeeze as he kept his eyes locked on you. you felt his stare, your eyes moving up to lock with his. “hey, it’s okay, pretty. it’s nowhere crazy. just a really chill bar. they have burgers, fries, pizza, music, alcohol, all the good shit.”
you took in a deep breath, your heartbeat rapidly quickening due to the feeling of his hand still on your leg. you haven’t even known him very long and he already had this much of an effect on you. he was going to be trouble, but maybe it’d be worth it. it was hard for you to let your walls down sometimes, but you could sense matt was someone you could be yourself with. you flash him a warming smile and nod your head. you try to not show him that you’re deeply impacted by his touch, but you feel as if he can see right through you. you’ll have to learn how to control how you react, so he doesn’t use it to his own personal advantage. “well that sounds like fun to me.”
“good. i hope you’re hungry. i love me a girl who can eat.” he flashed you a playful wink and pulling his hand away to put it back on the steering wheel once the light turned green again.
this was going to be a long, but exciting night and you already didn’t want it to be over.
the bar was busier than you expected it to be, but it was actually a pretty decent place. you don’t go out to bars much, considering everyone is usually piss drunk and out of their minds. every time your friends invite you to go to the bar or the club, you decline the offer and decide to stay home with a good book in your hands instead. it was more like a pub with tables to sit down at, waiters who take your order, music playing from the speakers, decent lighting, and of course, the bar area where you can order your drinks and sit.
matt pulled you over to the bar area immediately, his hand finding yours to lead you with him which made your heart swell just a little bit. you felt like you were in a movie, the adrenaline pumping throughout your veins. this time last week you didn’t even know this boy existed and that you’d be on a date with him, but here you were, at the bar with a bad boy who couldn’t seem to take his eyes off you.
you slid onto the seat next to him at the bar, immediately feeling jittery and anxious as your eyes scanned over all the different alcohol in front of you. you weren’t much of a drinker when it came to alcohol. you’ve had some wine with your friends and a couple shots of hard liquor, but you couldn’t the bartender was helping someone down the line, so you took the time to look over at matt and bit onto your bottom lip, your cheeks warming up as you noticed he was already staring at you.
“what do you want to drink? here’s a menu if you can’t decide.” matt slid over a drinks menu and you immediately stared down at it, your eyes scrolling through the list of drinks with the alcohol percentage next to them. it was a bit overwhelming with how many were on there and even with what contents were in the drinks, you sure weren’t sure.
you furrowed your eyebrows together as you concentrated, studying the menu intently. “hm.” you thought out loud. “there’s a lot to choose from.”
he watched you the entire time, another sly smirk appearing onto that charming face of his. “i like how you observe things. you pay attention to everything around you and you’re always so focused, no matter what it is.”
matt could visibly see the warmth against your cheeks, his words only making you melt even more. “well thanks.” you spoke shyly, flashing him a small smile before turing your attention back onto the drink menu in front of you. “i’ll have this one.” you felt your cheeks warm up a bit more just by the name of the drink. you pointed to it and matt leaned over to see what you were pointing to, a widening smirk appearing onto his face. when he leaned into you, your shoulders touched and you immediately took in his indulging, sweet scent of cologne. could a man who smells so fucking good make him even more attractive?
“sex on the beach, huh?” he let out a soft chuckle and wiggled his eyebrows at you playfully, his shoulders still brushing against yours. “fair choice. that one is pretty good. pretty drink for a pretty lady.”
his comment made your cheeks flush even more to the point where you felt like they were on fire. you kept your cool, shoving your shoulder back onto his playfully, a soft giggle emitting from your lips. “sweet talker, now aren’t you?”
before he could reply, the bartender came over to take both of your orders. you used your most confident tone to tell him what you wanted. when the bartender turned to matt and matt only said he wanted a coke, you raised your eyebrow at him, puzzled as to why he also wasn’t getting a drink.
when the bartender pulled away to begin making the drinks, you immediately turned to matt, furrowing your eyebrows at him in confusion. “why didn’t you get a drink?”
“i got a drink.” he said simply, grabbing the coke that was now laid out in front of him and took a sip.
you rolled your eyes in annoyance at his smart ass words. he knew what you meant, he was just messing with you. “no, i meant an alcoholic drink, obviously.”
he could sense the annoyance in your voice which only made his smirk even wider. he leaned a little closer to you once again, his lips lingering against your ear again which caused another shudder to run down your spine. “got to get a pretty girl home safely, now don’t i?” his hot and heavy breath lingered against your ear which caused your eyes to close for a brief moment before opening them to see him already pulling away, his smirk widening. “now look at that.” his attention focused over to your drink that was now in front of you. “pretty girls like you deserve pretty things.” his breath was hot against your ear and in that very moment all you could think about was wanting to kiss him. that would be too easy though.
suddenly he pulled away and when you looked up at him, he had a wicked grin on his face like he knew what he was doing. what a damn tease.
you tried to shake it off for now, although his words had affected you and his shoulder was still brushing against yours and now his knee was touching yours and it made you feel a little warm inside. you looked down at your knees touching and the feeling of your body touching his body in any way made you nervous, but a good kind of nervous.
“do you come here a lot?” you ask him nonchalantly as you pick up your drink and angle the straw to your lips. you had to admit, the drink was dangerously good. you wouldn’t mind having a couple more afterwards. as long as you pace yourself, obviously.
matt shrugged his shoulders, taking another sip of his coke before placing it down in front of him. “i’ve been here once or twice before. you haven’t?” he raised his eyebrow up at you as he waited for your response.
you tried not to look like you were thinking too hard into what he just said. you wondered if he had gone here on other dates, or if he ever came with friends or by himself. you felt as if you didn’t have the right to know or even ponder the thought, given he wasn’t yours and you didn’t need to feel jealous over anything. did you really want to feel special tonight, like you were the only one he’d make an effort to do the things with? maybe. maybe you wanted him to see that you weren’t like other girls. you weren’t easy to play with. you were tough, strong, driven, passionate, and maybe a little stubborn and closed off with certain people, but that’s okay. you weren’t like every other girl that he’s probably been with. you wondered if he could see that or not.
you decided to mess with him anyway. “i haven’t. do you take all the pretty librarians you’ve locked eyes with here?”
matt let out a soft chuckle and immediately shook his head before taking a sip of his coke, his eyes now focusing solely on you, his hand slowly moving over to rest onto the knee that was touching his. “no i haven’t. you’re special. you get to have sex on the beach with yours truly.” he flashed you a playful wink, giving your knee a squeeze before instantly pulling it away. you almost wanted to whine out as he pulled his hand away, loving the feeling of his hand there. he was being touchy tonight and you didn’t mind it. no one bit.
you ended up talking to matt for hours on end to the point where the bar was about to close up and stools were being pulled up to the top of the tables. the music had stopped playing and people were starting to get their things together to leave. you didn’t realize how much time had passed, but you both had been at the bar for hours.
you both had eaten a burger with fries, you had another drink, and he ended up learning so much about you. the only thing you noticed is that he focused solely on getting to know you rather than sharing anything about himself. you wondered about that, if he chose to not talk about himself for a reason, or maybe he just really wanted to get to know you. you ended up sharing stories about work, how you got into your library career, and your family and friends. as you spoke to him, he was so focused intently on you and nothing else. you could feel your walls start to come down little by little and you weren’t sure if that was a good thing or not. it was definitely a scary feeling.
matt paid for the bill (which you repeatedly told him you would’ve covered your portion but he insisted it was a date and he wanted to treat you) and you two were out the door and back into his car.
the night was almost over and it felt like it had just begun. you slid back into the passenger seat of his car and buckled up your seatbelt. you looked over at matt who was already pulling out of the parking lot, one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand running running through his messy brunette locks. you couldn’t help but stare at him, even if you were being completely obvious.
“i had a lot of fun tonight.” you speak up first, a small smile staying onto your lips. “thank you for paying, even though you didn’t have to.”
he let out a soft chuckle, his eyes staying focused on the road. “it was a date after all and i’m the one who brought it up in the first place.”
“i’m glad you did.” you spoke this a little quietly, but you knew he heard you. his head turned to look right at you, a widening grin forming on his lips.
“well, i’m glad you agreed to going on one with me.” he moved his hand back over to your knee and squeezed it gently, his facial expressions softening and adoration filling his gaze. “glad i stepped foot in those library doors too. wouldn’t of had one of the best nights of my life if i didn’t.”
his words made your cheeks warm and your heart swell. you could swear your cheeks were probably permanently dyed from blushing so much tonight, but you weren’t complaining. “you know, i’m kind of glad you did too even though i could’ve got in big ass trouble.”
“nah, they love you from what you told me. you can do no wrong.” he pulled his attention back to the road, but his head stayed comfortably on your knee as he gave it another squeeze. you felt your breath hitch at the feeling of his hand, your heart beat rapidly quickening. the grin on his lips didn’t disappear as he kept his eyes on the road, your eyes moving over to look down at his hand on your thigh and admiring his long, slender fingers. his pinky finger had a pretty studded ring on it and you started to imagine what his hands would look like all over you. your thoughts suddenly became clouded with images of his hands up and down your body, not leaving a single inch of you untouched.
you came back to your senses and snapped back to reality when you realized matt had pulled into the library parking lot so you could pick up your car. oh right, this is where you left your car and you had to drive yourself home from your date. matt was hard to read as he pulled into the parking spot next to your car which was the only car left in the empty lot. you looked over at the time displayed in the car and realized it was already after two am and you had to be back in this same parking lot for work in a short six hours. “shit, i should probably head home. i have work in the morning.” you bit onto your bottom lip, disappointment filling your voice.
a soft sigh emits from your lips as you look over at matt. his hand was still on your knee and for some reason, you hoped he wouldn’t move it. not yet, at least. “i had a fucking blast getting to know you, pretty. what are you doing tomorrow?”
you raised your eyebrow up at him, your lips curving up into a slight grin. “why? you asking me out on another date?”
he shrugged his shoulders, his hand rubbing your knee in smooth slow circles. “so, maybe i am. sue me. just want to get my daily pretty librarian fix.”
“oh, please. you can get that anytime from anywhere.” you roll your eyes playfully, a soft laugh emitting from your lips.
you didn’t realize your bodies were somehow closer now as he leaned forward, his lips now inches closer to you. he moved his hand away from your knee and placed a strand of your hair over your ear as your eyes lock together in an intense gaze. your eyes slowly moved down to look at his beautifully shaped lips before back up into his eyes, your breathing slightly labored. “i can’t.” he replied in a serious tone compared to the teasing in your voice. “i can only get that one place and that’s here.” he moved his hand slowly down to the nape of your neck and rested it there to cradle your neck in place. his fingers felt cool against your skin as a shudder ran down your spine from the sensation. “with you.” the pad of his thumb caressed against your smooth skin, your heart beat was rapidly quickening.
you opened up your mouth to speak, but words couldn’t come out. you sat there, melting into his touch as he stared directly into your eyes. you weren’t sure if you were imagining things, but you felt like your faces were somehow closer. you could feel the energy between the two of you and it was vibrant, electric, real. you were really sad this night had to end.
suddenly, he pulled away and let out a soft sigh that exhaled from his chest. “come on, let me walk you to your car so you can get home safely.”
disappointment ran through you as you realized the night was officially over. you allowed him to walk you to your car which was only a couple steps over to the next parking spot.
he didn’t kiss you, or even give you a hug. he leaned forward to press his lips against your ear, “get home safe. text me when you’re home, yeah?”
before you could respond, or even react, he immediately pulled away, flashing you a slight smirk before walking back over to his car.
so, when you drove home, your brain was consumed with only matt and when you were going to see him again and hopefully have his hands all over you.

you can find more of the pairing here!
“thank you for the flowers. they’re beautiful.”
matt’s lips curve up into wide grin at your words on the other end of the call. he was waiting for you to get home to see the surprise on your doorstep. he could’ve dropped them off at your job, but he figured having them delivered to your front door would be more romantic, and less problematic for you. “i’m so glad you like them. beautiful flowers for a beautiful girl. happy valentine’s day, gorgeous”
you were completely and utterly surprised when you got home from work. today was valentine’s day and you absolutely loved the holiday. sure, it was just another day of the year that you spread love and gratitude to the loved ones in your life, but you were a hopeless romantic at heart. romance novels and movies, happy endings, tear jerking, butterfly roaming, swoon worthy stories about everlasting love made your heart swell up of endless possibilities for that kind of love to find you one day.
even though you had to work this morning, matt managed to surprise you and leave your cheeks warm and blushy and your heart swelling in your chest. maybe he could possibly be the love you were so desperately hoping for one day. you were a little bummed that he didn’t stop in to see you at the library, but you hoped that you could still possibly see him later today.
his words made your cheeks feel extremely warm, a soft giggle emitting from your lips as you place a strand of your hair over your ear. “happy valentine’s day, matt. you know for a bad boy, you sure do know how to make a girl smile.”
you could hear his infectious laugh on the other end of the phone, which was like music to your ears. you were getting used to fitting him into your daily routine. it was almost like you had to talk to him, or you’d start to feel off. you weren’t sure what those feelings meant, and how you truly felt in general about him, but you liked his presence and talking to him in general. he always knew what to say to make you smile and feel giddy. it was so easy and comfortable talking to him and being around him.
“well, lucky for you, i only have time out of my bad boy schedule to make one girl smile.” he let out another laugh, hesitating on his words for a moment before speaking again. “hey, what are you doing tonight? do you have any plans?”
you twirled the strand of your hair around your finger as you kept the phone comfortably pressed against your ear with your other hand. your eyes scanned over to the beautiful roses that you placed in your vase on your desk. you bit onto your bottom lip for a moment as you sat there on your bed, your heart pounding in your chest just from the sound of his voice. what was this boy doing to you? “i don’t have any plans. why? is bad boy matt himself gonna take me out on a date?”
he chuckled again on the other end of the phone. you can just imagine him now, flashing you a small smirk, his body leaning closer to you to get a whiff of his intoxicating cologne and the feeling of his body pressing up against you causing your heart to beat faster in your chest and heat to pool in the pit of your tummy. he didn’t have to physically be in your presence for him to make you feel this way, but when you two were together, things felt insanely electflying. the effect this boy had on you was insane, but you were loving every second of it.
“maybe i am. what do you say, pretty librarian? wanna go on a date with me tonight?”
you didn’t even have to think twice when he asked you. it may of been embarrassing the way you responded so quickly, but you didn’t care. this boy made your heart swoon and you couldn’t get enough. maybe he’d break your heart, maybe he wouldn’t. but the ride would be worth it.
“i would absolutely love to. pick me up at 7, and don’t be late or i’ll have to give you a late fee.”
