Imagine being the bad boy’s girlfriend, how much can you handle?
he’s so squishy, soft boy vibes only 🥺
You’re used it. You’re used to having people whisper about you. Usually it wasn’t all that nice, none of them were. You’re used to the attention you gain when walking down the halls with your boyfriend beside you. You’re used to the girls fawning over him and flirting with him right infront of you. You’re used to him ignoring your waves from across the hall. You’re used it.
You’re used to being the bad boy’s girlfriend.
It definitely took some time getting used to but, around the six month mark you started getting the hang of it. You’ve been dating Song Mingi for a year and seven months, yeah pretty long. You started dating him in Junior year, the stressful year filled with pre-SATs, college searching and job finding. Mingi was a huge help during the beginning but somewhere along the way, he just act like he didn’t care.
You’re used to that though. You knew he cared for you, he just showed it in his own ways. Like the time he brought you an extra sweater because you were cold outside. Though you were only cold because he kicked you outside his house for two hours. You refused to leave until you both made up, persistence and being pushy was your strength. You knew how to fight for things you wanted, not a crime.
Mingi liked that. The starting of the relationship was great. He treated you nicely than what he did with others. He listened to your concerns and shared his problems with you. He actually, publicly called you ‘his girl’ with no hesitation or embarrassment. He held your hand, kissed your soft lips and loved to smile at you. What they didn’t know was that he was a such a goofball with you alone. He made corny jokes and always found a way to make you laugh.
You smiled fondly at the happy memories your brain was replaying. Your cheeks turned pink when another fond memory played of your first kiss with him. It was fairly sweet in honesty, it was safe to say he was nervous. Yeah, Mingi was nervous to kiss you. The well known ‘heart throb’ ‘sex god’ was just a nervous eighteen year old boy who wanted to kiss you at the end of your date.
“Thank you for walking me home. I had fun at the arcade today.” You tucked your hair behind your ear looking up Mingi. He smiled down at you, loving the way you looked underneath your porch lights.
Just as the silence grew, Mingi slowly brought his hand to caress your cheek. His slender fingers found their way behind your neck. He licked his lips trying to warm them in the cold November breeze. You closed your eyes, first tightly clutching onto his jacket as you felt his lips finally touch yours. The fire and electricity running all over your skin and under.
Cue happy memories fading away.
“I said let’s go, geez listen much?”
You gathered your notebook and pens stuffing them into your bag. You walked beside Mingi as he walked you to your locker. Little things like this with him always made you happy. He grew more busy with his new job at that auto shop. You didn’t mind, not all couples have to spend everyday together. You’re used to it.
“How was work yesterday? You didn’t get to tell me.” You asked.
“A pain.” He leaned up against the locker next to yours. A couple of girls walked by seeing him, some even threw in a flirtatious wink and giggled. He simply smirked and winked backed.
“Do you wanna talk about it at lunch? Or we can walk home together, it’s actually been a while since we done that.”
“Walk home together? What are you, thirteen?” He scoffed nudging your head. You gave a soft chuckle and closed your locker. As you both walked to lunch you didn’t miss the looks and stares the girls were giving him. Mingi held the door open for you and winked at the girls behind.
Once you both grabbed lunch you made your way over to the table filled with his friends. You were relatively close with them since they are his closet fiends. His inner circle consists of Wooyoung, San and Jongho. There was four others in the inner circle however they didn’t have this lunch block so you usually met them when you and Mingi chilled at his place.
“Hey y/n!” San waved, beaming with that smile of his as wooyoung pulled him into a headlock. You didn’t mind that the boys were the rowdy, it was usual. You were used to it.
Mingi sat in front of you which has been a habit if his lately. He usually sits next to you because San was always friendly with you and at first it bothered Mingi but time passed and he just seemed like he didn’t care. You started talking to the boys about the exam you aced per usual and they all admired your smart mind and how the way your brain works. You looked towards Mingi but his eyes were fixated on sophomore girls across the lunch room as he seductively ate his grapes.
You knew about the looks. The winks. The smirks. Even the one liners he would say to the sophomore girls. You knew about it all. In the beginning you obviously didn’t stand for it and confronted him about it.
“Just cause I’m looking at them? Come on.”
“I don’t like it. You wink at them and obviously flirt with them.”
“I’m with you aren’t I? It’s all harmless flirting. It’s not like I sleep with them. You’re with me, I’m with you.”
That’s how the conversation usually went. It went in circles every time so you decided to not fight with him about it. Sure, it’s mindless flirting, all harmless. That’s what you tell yourself. You’re used it.
Lunch went by quick and so did the rest of your classes. You waited by the school entrance for Mingi. You wanted to walk home together nothing wrong with that, it’s been a while since you two had a little alone time. You heard his rowdy friends and turned around to see them exiting with laughter. Then, that’s when you saw Mingi.
He was walking side by side with some girl you didn’t know. You were sure you never seen this girl before. Her soft smile and the way she averted eye contact with Mingi and Wooyoung, her head hung low whenever they ruffled her hair. Was she new? Wooyoung always liked teasing new students.
“Oh hey! Y/n, this is Seohyun, she’s new. I told her I would introduce her to girls around here but they ignored her for some reason.” San’s voice piped in and you stood there with a awkward but friendly smile.
“Hi, I’m y/n, it’s nice to meet you. Mingi are you ready?”
“For what?” He asked a little to distant for your taste. Your eyes glanced at how close he was to her, his height obviously made it difficult for her to even look up at him. But you could see it, that color of stained pink on her cheeks.
“I thought I told you I wanted us to walk home together.”
“Oh. Well Seohyun lives near me so I’m walking her home today.”
“Don’t worry, y/n I’ll walk you home.”
You could always count on San to fix an awkward situation. You didn’t even get to talk back to Mingi who was already walking off with Seohyun. His arm around her shoulder.
After one day with her, he’s going to walk her home?
San went on about how Mingi feels bad about the new girl. He noticed how the girls ignored her because she was seated next to him after lunch. You tried to understand, Mingi always had a helping nature to him that others couldn’t see. But, you couldn’t ignore the feeling in your stomach. Because, another fact of Mingi, he always liked the shy, quiet girls. You would know, it’s how he fell for you.
After San dropped you off at home you went straight to your room. Frustration and anger finally was able to be released as you started throwing pillows around. Why does Mingi treat you like this? Why is he being distant? Why does he carelessly flirt with others? Does he not know he’s hurting your feelings? Is this all for show?
You were used to having these kinds of thoughts. The doubtfullness. The anxiety. The sadness. The anger. You hated for what he’s done to you. You can’t even trust him around some new girl. Was your trust in him gone? Does he even get jealous about San walking you home? Does he even care at all? These questions. You were used to having.
You laid there in your bed, letting the tears escape your eyes.
Until your phone got a notification.
“So, Seohyun got home okay?”
“That’s good. I miss you.”
“I still don’t like how you wink and flirt with those girls.”
“I’m only gonna say this one last time. I’m not going to go soft just cause you’re my girlfriend. I know my reputation babe, I’m not gonna let that go.”
“You rather have your reputation stand than hurt my feelings?”
“I’m tired. I can’t deal with this right now.”
That’s it? No explanation of walking that girl home? No asking how was my day? Not apologizing for flirting with those girls? No sorry for not walking me home? Damn it Mingi! Why am I so used to being played with by you! Don’t you care about my feelings?
With a deep breathe and shaky fingers. You typed out your response, shutting your phone quickly off after. Covering yourself with the warm fuzzy blankets to comfort you. In your heart you knew this was the right choice. You were used to being the bad boy’s girlfriend, but that doesn’t mean you should be.
“I think we should take a break.”
