YES…. oh my god I hope you really do enjoy tales of zestiria. the characters are all lovely and also sorey and mikleo are so beautiful together that it actually hurts

I normally try not to get my hopes up over games, but Tales does really, really well with its characters and relationships so I feel safe setting my expectations high on that count!

I am prepared to cry over beautiful friendships and maybe ship the hell out of some things. BRING ON ALL THE SKITS.

Your writing absolutely takes my breath away. Some of the lines in Dragon Gate and Lotus in particular were so beautiful I had to stop and cry a little into my hands before continuing ; ; I just want to say, thank you for sharing your writing! I am also super curious about the process of Miyuki falling in love with Eijun in yakuza verse - I can't help but wonder how it happened! Will you ever write about that?

It always means a lot when someone says my writing is beautiful because I don’t think I have a particularly poetic style or anything, so thank you!

I sort of plan to get around to it in Currents... here’s part of the draft that was giving me so much trouble I decided to put it off and write the sequel instead.

"You," Kazuya says, taking charge of what remains of Eijun's drink and setting it aside where it won't keep spilling onto the rest of his shirt, or spilling into a long-ago memory, "are done for tonight."

Eijun's face falls. He protests, "But it's Christmas!"

Ah, yes. That would explain how they got on this subject, something about how lonely it is spending Christmas Eve without a date, which is the usual state of affairs for Kazuya but Eijun had offers coming all night. Some of them were too subtle and he was too drunk to notice, others he waved off with a laugh of, "Maybe later." When "later" eventually came Kazuya was shepherding him alone into the back of a Mercedes and now here they are. In a way they're each other's date.

Kazuya shakes his head, thoughts beginning to swim all over the place. "At this rate you're going to spend most of Christmas asleep, and also hung-over."

The mention of sleep does the trick and Eijun succumbs to a yawn. "Fine. Fiiiine. You're an asshole."

"Yes, yes, that fact's been well-established."

Eijun gets distracted when he finally realizes his shirt is wet and starts to strip it off right there on the couch, fingers fumbling at the buttons. Kazuya opens his mouth to say something, but on second thought closes it and looks away. It's been a long night, he reasons, and he's tired. Best to go home quickly. He gets up to dispose of the drinks—that's the plan at any rate, but as soon as he's on his feet the room sways and he goes light-headed.

Sitting down again he presses a hand to his forehead and wonders if he has enough cash for a cab, when a grumbling curse draws his attention to where Eijun is apparently tangled in his own shirt. He got the front buttons undone but forgot about the cuffs, and now he's doing some sort of twisty, complicated motion with his arms behind his back that renders him rather pretzel-like. The way he's bent looks painful, but his expression shows only frustration, then annoyance when Kazuya snickers.

"Oi, help me out here!"

"Is that an order?"

"It is," he says, petulant more than anything and sinking down into the couch cushions. Sawamura Eijun, twenty years old, local yakuza boss and grandson of the organization's kumicho… sloshing drunk and pouting, defeated by his shirtsleeves. He's a criminal, prone to violence, and in the business of extortion and blackmail (among other things). He's not supposed to be cute.

"Turn around then." Kazuya blames the alcohol for the strains of sentiment cloying his thoughts. High school was years ago. That single afternoon barely lasted a blink. Eijun isn't his kouhai anymore, he's Kazuya's boss. And he's yakuza.

Not that Kazuya needs to remind himself of that when Eijun finishes wriggling around and presents his back.

It’s hilarious you would ask me this because these are the video game years. My blog would be a mix of Final Fantasy 8 graphics/AMVs, World of Warcraft stuff, Tales of the Abyss, and vagueblogging about my then-boyfriend and the girl who used to make my life misery at the time.
